Alan Richardson just on SEN, here’s a few notes.

– Very exciting times

– It’s a prestigious role

– Disappointed to be overlooked at Essendon*

– Will work closely with Ratts & other CFC coaches

– It’s proud & demanding club, honoured to be given opportunity

– First spoke to Carlton through his manager, the role he wanted to play at Essendon* wasn’t going to work with Hird appointment, but door opened at Carlton

– Decision made to join Blues was made late last night, so wasn’t too exposed with Essendon* list/trade discussions

– Carlton has healthy list, Kreuzer back will be good, Sydney performance suggests future is really bright

– Players needs general overall improvement, preliminary discussions with Ratts, Swann & Icke focusing on achieving a 5-10% improvement across the board

– Had to work his way into AFL coaching career, low profile meant he couldn’t go straight into AFL role, East Burwood was great

– Now have a substantial role with Carlton & really looking forward to it

– Greg Swann got him across from Bulldogs to Collingwood, also played a role in getting him to Carlton

– His son plays footy with Ratten’s son

– Starts with Carlton tomorrow, will have a small input into tradeweek

– Keen for a short break, following stressful end to year with two senior coaching interviews

--

He kept his cards pretty close to his chest and I was disappointed he wasn’t asked more directly what his role would be and to define “senior assistant”. Richardson seems to have a solid reputation in the footy industry, so let’s hope he’s the great addition we all hope him to be.

Super. Cheers.

Sound like his role is to address shortcommings.

That's a good thing.

– Very exciting times

– It’s a prestigious role, not as prestigious as the senior coaching position, but that'll come. Oh yes... muhahahaha...!!!

– Disappointed to be overlooked at Essendon*, but only the Golden Child's mates will be appointed now, so I never had a chance.

– Will work closely with Ratts & other CFC coaches. In fact, I'll be watching Ratts VERY closely indeed.

– It’s proud & demanding club, honoured to be given opportunity.

– First spoke to Carlton through his manager, the role he wanted to play at Essendon* wasn’t going to work with Hird appointment, but door opened at Carlton and I had to get out of Bomberland super quick. Hopefully my tenure was short enough that I can conveniently wipe it from my CV in a couple of years.

– Decision made to join Blues was made late last night, so wasn’t too exposed with Essendon* list/trade discussions, although I know that Essendon* were keen to bolster their forward, defence, onball, ruck, rebounding defender, KPP, medium forward, defensive forward, defensive onballers, run-with players and quick outside onballers and flankers. They're ok for in-and-under onballers who can't kick though.

– Carlton has healthy list, Kreuzer back will be good, Sydney performance suggests future is really bright for me because had the Blues won that game, they probably would have gotten themselves into a Preliminary Final, and Ratts would have probably got himself a contract extension.

– Players needs general overall improvement, preliminary discussions with Ratts, Swann & Icke focusing on achieving a 5-10% improvement across the board. Thinks that our ACTUAL board could do with a 50% improvement though... a few too many hanger's on for his liking.

– Had to work his way into AFL coaching career, low profile meant he couldn’t go straight into AFL role, East Burwood was great. Unlike the Golden Child Hird, who TOOK THE FRICKIN JOB THAT WAS NEARLY MINE!!!

– Now have a substantial role with Carlton & really looking forward to it

– Greg Swann got him across from Bulldogs to Collingwood, also played a role in getting him to Carlton

– His son plays footy with Ratten’s son, so that'll make it hard, but I'll do what has to be done.

– Starts with Carlton tomorrow, will have a small input into tradeweek. Mainly warning the Blues off recruiting anyone from Essendon*.

– Keen for a short break, following stressful end to year with two senior coaching interviews

I'm leaning to him being a good get, even though my Bummer pal reckons they are rapt to see him go. Surely their problems were with Knightmare, not Richo ?

He is going to be on 3AW after 7 tonight.

Unfortunatley missed half of 3AW interview ...

Fwiw, this is what I caught ...

- signed for 3 years
- is very excited with the role, wants to make an impact on our program. Wants a big say in how we train and how we play.
- has been exposed to a number of programs both within AFL and internationally.
- sounded disappointed not to have landed senior coaching role, but conversely came across as being very hungry to step outside his previous roles and make a mark

David King commented post interview that Richardson is a beauty ...

Apologies for scattergun post but trying to send via iPhone ...

Great summary CB. Also heard the interview, and was amazed that they didn't ask the obvious question of what his role would specifically involve. Terrible interviewing.
