Is anyone surprised by the fact that two of our ruckmen, Kreuzer and Jacobs, are in the top 10 for average tackles for season 2010?

Rank Name Games Average
1 David Ellard 7 7.29
2 Chris Judd 20 5.25
3 Brock McLean 6 5.17
4 Joe Anderson 5 4.80
5 Matthew Kreuzer 13 4.77
6 Marc Murphy 22 4.55
7 Richard Hadley 8 4.50
8 Mitch Robinson 16 4.19
9 Sam Jacobs 13 4.08
10 Kade Simpson 23 4.04

EDIT: Thanks Samblueboy for highlighting our error

You mean "average tackles" as opposed to "...are in the top 10 for average stats for season 2010?", right?

Awesome effort for the ruckmen, BTW. To put it in perspective, I think Mark Blake from Geelong averages 0.5 tackles a game :yikes: .

Yes, average tackles - my mistake. Will edit the original post.

What about effective tackles?

White was a big loss IMO. His ability to read the play like Harley/Maxwell was important.

Shaun Grigg is in our top 5 for hit-outs.

Now we've got five ruckmen?

What an absolute lot of rubbish. If you don't play more than 1/2 the games, you cant really have an average.

Rank Name Games Average

2 Chris Judd 20 5.25
5 Matthew Kreuzer 13 4.77
6 Marc Murphy 22 4.55
8 Mitch Robinson 16 4.19
9 Sam Jacobs 13 4.08
10 Kade Simpson 23 4.04

To be honest, far too few. Where are the tackles from the half back line or the small forwards?

Good point. Does this stat include missed tackles/ half tackles/ soft tackles where they were able to slip the ball out?

The Blueseum is not a stats site, and sources all of its stats from Footywire:

http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/tr-c ... t=TA&st=TA

The source data is then summarised in limited form to allow highlights to be added to player's 'stat shots' or stat summaries through their careers. We've found that this is a good summary of highlights of players careers and still allows tracking of key factors of interest.

This data allows averages over a minimum of 5 games. Clearly if that 5 game (min.) sample is not representative for the whole year then the data could be compromised, but for over 5 games it is at least relevant.

Impressive effort from Ellard. Shows one of our weaknesses. Really 2-3 players making that amount of tackles.
