This is the clip and it is in slow motion. I've never seen it before and I am surprised that people are complainind about this. Judd clearly did't throw the elbow back. He clearly hits Pavlich's upper arm first and his elbow bends back - the contact to his face would have been incidental with minimal impact - he just must have got the sweet spot.

No case to answer - the MRP got it right. There are plenty of times that players get a cut to the head that are not reportable.

I was about to say the same. The angle shown last night showed a pretty innocuous attempt to relieve the pressure of the tackle. The upper arm lands in Pav's face. It was a tad reckless but certainly not vicious, so may have deserved a week. Awwwww Eddie

It's pretty easy to open up a wound around on the scalp, forehead or around the cheek bone by virtue of the fact the skin can be quite taut. There was zero malice in it beyond reminding a tagger not to come up and smack him around at a stoppage/in-play (which McPhee had been doing all day to an extraordinary degree) and he went for the forearm chop and caught him flush with the elbow as well.

That's it. That's why it was thrown out. The tribunal would have had a whole other mess to deal with had they brought it up.

Everyone brings up Pavs cut eye but the week after two tigers mistimed a high five and the lighted touch to one of their faces openned him up.

I have no problem with judd being cleared.

Much ado about nothing. Was he reported by the umpire? Did the Match Review guys find it reportable? No and no, so what's the issue? More fodder for idiot talk back radio and lazy inept journalists.

Why would you bring that incident up when everyone is toasting to his victory? Tastless prick.

In 1993 Greg Williams needed 1 vote in round 22 to tie with Wankerneen.
Williams had 44 possessions in a match winning performance and did not receive 1 single vote.

It was leaked a couple of years ago that the junior umpire in that match was told not to give Williams any vote because Williams was a flower according to that senior umpire (forgot the prick's name).

That senior umpire should have been sued for this.

If you look at the number of votes ech team collected it does show that the higher the teams are on the ladder the more votes players from those teams won. But this is an individual award and Judd didn't have other players attracting votes with Simmo next best with 9.

If you look at the history of the Brownlow, you will notice that this is an award whereby players of bottom teams poll well because his team mates weren't pinching votes.

Pendlebury and Selwood were the reasons why Swan and Ablett couldn't win, and on the flip side, Judd was BOG in many more games than Ablett and Swan therefore he deserved to win.
