CORK are set to lose rising star Ciaran Sheehan to an Aussies Rules club -- but not for another season.

Carlton Blues have confirmed the Eire Og player and All-Ireland senior winner will join them for pre-season training next October and start his AFL career with them in the 2012 season.

He must be good, you'd think.

This could well be one of the best gets yet by StIcke. Many times he has stated that Zac could be anything but that Sheehan was the one he wasn't giving up on due to his exciting natural talent. He was convinced he would be an AFL natural.

Excellent news that CFC can atleast get a chance to have a proper look at him. Well done Sticke on your perserverance

Regards Cazzesman

Would have learned a lot more playing at Cork with Michael Shields and will be better for the experience second time around. A month wasn't long enough last time.

Congratulations to Steven Icke for pursuing him and signing him again. I think it would have been 2006 when Carlton first identified him as a 16 year-old. Ask any Irishman and they'll tell you he's a very special talent, and has been for some time. Left footer who loves a goal. Can't wait!

Looked a little flat-footed in his GAA play last time I took a look at him. IMO, Zach was the more impressive of the two in an AFL sense, while Ciaran was the highly touted one in Irish circles as you note Doc.

Would like to see some highlights of him more recently to see how much he's improved. Certainly no harm in using a rookie spot on the lad.

I don't want to get carried away, but I hope the lad feels more comfortable this time around. Getting bitten twice is not what I'm looking for.
Hopefully he can see Zac Tuohy getting a senior game some time in 2011: give him the confidence to make the transition as well.

No doubt someone could put together a 2 minute youtube 'best of' that would send you into a frenzy of celebration.

Fairdinkum Jim you are full of it.

You make it sound as if you are paying his airfare and accomodation. :banghead:

Shave his head and he's a dead ringer for a young Chris Judd.

Can anyone else see this or am I just looking at him through Judd coloured glasses.

Sydney Blue will ask if we can swap O'hAilpin for Sheehan.

Zac is from Laos?

The AFL may well be full of hopefulls lining up on clubs' doors if the austerity measures to be put into place cause another Irish famine. These kids are amateurs and need jobs. It looks as though Ireland is about to drop into an economic abyss and not for the first time. Those who have had overtures already, might think at least they will have work for a few years out here.

The article on Sheehan reads well. But I wonder if we really need another medium forward. We'll find out soon enough if he can oust Garlett and co.

I actually dug up a good half hour of the kid. Was impressed, but not as impressed as I was with Zach. Looked a touch slower, but seemed to enjoy running through opponents and had a good leg on him.
