Read all the papers, listened to the talkback.Missing those sitters,Armies bounce, umpies etc etc.Just things that happen in every game for mine.Nothing more than incidentals............but really,Taigh Kenneally's last quarter killed us.He continually charged through the guts and shifted the momentum there way.Call it feel, gut instinct,ya gotta sense danger...........after rich last year,we should have been prepared for something out of the blue............once Kenneally got into it,we should have acted.Kenneally is renown for this,it is not as if it was a once off.In racing terms,he comes home late,a "Swooper"...................poor shit from the coaching box at a critical moment.Mate,i have been dead against getting Laidley on board, but after yesterday,i might change my mind.

I know,we all have twenty/twenty vision in hindsight, but who couldnt sense danger after the first ten minutes of that quarter where we dominated without result on the scoreboard.Anybody with any instinct could feel the momentum would shift. And it did through Kenneally, and we watched.Ya gotta be prepared and have contingencies in place.............like i said,Kenneally is renouned for that.

I should have added, overall im pretty happy.I think a lot of good things are happening at the club.Contrary to popular belief,i think our recruiting and development of young players is going very well.......................im very frustrated at the moment, coz im hearing the same thing over and over.Yah gotta face facts, and adress your shortcomings or you will repeat over and over and have a differant excuse every year.

Great quarter by Kennelly. Like Judd for us in the third he lifted and won his team the game.

Judd had an opponent, Kennelly didn't!

He had 12 possesions 4 were kicks to himself from full back
Roos pushed all his numbers back for the first 10 minutes and he became loose
if we had converted our chances he would not have got a mention

What about that well known unknown Trent Dennis-Lane kicking 4 goals :donk:

And earlier in the year it was Lindsay Thomas from Norf kicking 7

Round 3 it was Williams 4 & Reimers 3.

These blokes do SFA most of the year but have their birthdays against us.

Why why why :?:

Stats in the Supercoach age mean nothing to me.

I thought Tadgh was no more damaging than anybody else in the last. As said above a bunch of his kicks were from full back, a couple were ring around the rosy handballs across half back. I didn't think he was nearly as influential as most.

Thornton's fault.

We did more damage to ourselves which basically sums up our season.
Effeciency is our problem in most cases when we lose.

We are too focused on attack and have glaring deficiencies when defending....this was to be worked on this season but has yet to result in any tangible defensive structure being put in place or implemented....needs lots more work in pre season....

Our kicking efficiency infront of goal and in play compared to the Swans was what lost us the game. Walls was spot on when he said " we don't kick the ball well enough out of our backline".
Ellard
Carrazzo
Joseph
Waite
Hadley
Davies
Armfield
Walker
Bower

9 players out of 22 are can't kick and I am not including Judd, Betts, infront of goal & you can add

Grigg & Mclean to that list

Crap.

We lost it because we didn't convert approx 10 chances from the end of the 3rd to the beginning of the last quarters.

Nothing any Swans player did cost us the game. We cost us the game.

End of story.

Lets not try to re direct this at the coaches box. All the stratagies were in place to have plenty of the ball inside F50. We just could manage to get enough ball through the big sticks.

coupled with a poor start; letting them get away.

Agree with you Mick. Coaches are there to make the calls that shift the game slightly in your direction. Ratts did well, but we needed to lock down on Keneally when the momentum shifted. We missed early chances, no good saying that that means you forget Keneally. Needed to have a plan B with Goodes too. I am not a great TBird fan but he could have taken a spud like White and Jamo would do as well as Gibbs on Goodes when up forward. Roos didn't have to take Gibbs out of the game, we did it for him.

I think Goodes was important floating back late in the 3rd early in the 4th.
