I'm pretty sure it's either kick to a 2 on 1 contest...preferably if the Carlton player is shorter than both of them or kick to the pocket and turn the ball over........think that pretty much covers all strategies. |

I like how Bower took one at arguably the most crucial part of our season to date. Not sure I've seen him take one all year. |

A huge flaw in our game is our inability to bring the ball back into play and set up again. Way too slow in a modern fast game. The rules were changed to enhance a quick return to play but we haven't cottoned on yet. |

Our kick outs have been much better in 2010 than recent years. At least we worked out kicking long to Warnock was not a great idea when playing against Sandilands. We usually took the short back pocket option tonight, and that's fine, but too often we were not able to open up the play and provide an option, meaning we became too static in a vulnerable part of the ground. |

It's been steadily improving since Ratts took over ... takes a lot of work starting from a zero base, and players need to be continuously committed to provide strong dynamic options. They struggle when they lose confidence or are not as committed as the opposition. |

The fact that we're basically a running team, rather than a team with a number of players who are strong overhead makes it pretty hard. Lots of teams have bail out options directed at their stronger marking players. We don't have a lot of these kind of players, which makes it all the more harder for the player kicking in. |

I reckon after this week it will be: a) don't let Bower take it; b) anyone else have it. Why would one of our worst kicks of the football take a kick in at the crucial stage of the game. Turned it straight over by kicking to a pretty obvious two on one. It wasn't even a poor kick. It was just a high kick to a two on one. |

Bower was as dissapointing as he was in our final last year....looks like a chook running around with its head chopped off....and cant do anything except hold his man and repeatedly give away penalities...... Why doesnt he learn ????? I get sooo blooody angry.... I think thornton sweeping is needed back down there too..... Davies is a trier....but this is the part of the season where you need expierence down back!! Oh....and we have no plan to kick out of defence......why is that....every team we play ....kicks out to a team mate.......but we kick to a contest..... Why ? Why ??....are our boys not quick enough ? Smart enough ? Not taught what to do.....hmmmm...seems like the latter....how long does it take to work out what to do ????? Im so confused....can somebody please explain why we are so bad at this...... .... |

As a whole we are a very poor contested marking side, this makes it difficult to kick in. |

If you watch all the games this weekend you will notice all teams struggle with kickins. In fact our stats on successful kickins are quite good. Last night they were poor against freo who had a good press going. Our tall targets gettting outmarked was our major failing. A contest is required at least but credit to freo for playing us well. There is a strategy there but under pressure the players have to stand up and have the courage to pull it off. Time and expereince should see it develop further. It is frustrating at times. I remember the days of rushing a behind being a relief. Now days it just sets up more tense moments. |

Nail on head , they constantly kicked it to a contest where sandilands was involved. Ratts needs to stop barracking and use his brains. Don't let me start on how much space hill had, no plan b for carazzo not being able to do the job. Should try garlett in the middle like the way hill is used. Also waited to last quarter to put robbo in the middle to get involved. |
