Post subject:  A Couple of Rumours
Caught up with a family member today who used to recruit for another club but is now retired.

He still has many contacts in the game and he suggested that the Blues are in the race for Rischiatelli. Although the rumours are that he is going to the GC there is still a big chance he could return to Melbourne. He is a definite to finish top 3 in their B&F this year.

He also suggested that Sandilands may be out for the year with a foot injury. This may come in handy for Friday night !!

Could be a bit of truth in this, but it might not be us.

From my understanding, GC or GWS are only able to take ONE uncontracted player from any club. Given that it has been suggested that both Brennan and Rischitelli have been linked to the Suns, they will only be able to take one of them and I did hear that Clayton has a hard on for Brennan. Leaves Rischitelli the option to stay put, come to Melbourne or bugger off to GWS when they enter the comp.

The HS reported yesterday that Rischitelli's manager has spoken to the GC, Blues, Bombers & Roos. Also mentioned that if Rischitelli goes to the GC as an uncontracted player, the Lions may be interested in doing a trade for a low draft pick with GC for Jared Brennan. Brennan has reportedly been offered 2mil over 3 years, and the lions are unable to match that because of Fev's back ended contract.

Gold Coast has the upper hand.
They can take one uncontracted player now but they will also have a free crack at an uncontracted player in the PSD, they can get both of them quite easily if they wish.

..not sure if for one or two years [we had 2 years left on his contract with us, brions gave him an extra year and a payrise..haha].. ..but from what i understand, i thought we were payin' maybe 100k..more or less.. ..no-where near the exorbitant amount some say..

..actually, GC would be better off with riska instead of brennan, IF they could only nab one..

I dont believe that is the case. The AFL have stated that actions like that will be against "the spirit" of the rules and have limited GC to one player from each club.
(Unless the player is delisted from the club and becomes a free agent)

Why would he want to come back to Melbourne all of a sudden?

Voss is too arrogant for his own good and it's cost his club dearly.
He thought he could just step in and manufacture a premiership in 1-2 years.
Fev will have 2-3 years left as a top line full forward, if that. The lions will not win a flag in that time.
Hendo is looking better each week and could well be a 10 year forward for us.
Kane Lucas is a gem.
His pissed off Bradshaw and Rischa and god knows how many others.
Glad he didn't come to Carlton after all.

Because he is pissed off with the Lions ??? He wanted to go to the GC, but they are now more interested in Brennan than him, so he may come back down to Melbourne (or so the rumours go)

Is this the same AFL that left a loophole in the recruiting rules that allowed GC17 to reach agreement with players during the season?

We asked Rischa to take a decent pay cut last October when he flew down with Bradshaw.

I think that was one of the reasons he didn't want to switch to us ... also game time, and the fact that he's whipped.

IIRC, we were only paying for Fev's contract for this year.

Along with Stevo's early retirement, there should be plenty of cash to recruit some more talent :thumbsup:

Were paying a substantial amount of Fev's contract for this season only.

It's rumoured that we gave up Pick #27 (Callum Bartlett) to the Lions in the exchange for Fev, to ensure that they picked up some of the contract for 2010.. and then the entire contract from 2011 onwards.
