There was a notice that went out a couple of weeks ago stating the club would be looking to canvass the opinions of 150 or so members.
It's called "moving forward" I think.

Do not fill it in. Having been involved in this type of exercise before it is a waste of time. They are conducted for two reasons A) Cynical reasons, It's a delaying tactic and that will keep the masses busy for a while and at the same time try and show the current administration is "listening" to the members. or B) and this is worse, the administration does really want to hear from you so they can figure out whats wrong with aspects of the club. FFS , it's a footy club, not BP. Naturally, people want success but most of all people want to feel that the club is on the right track. If you can't run a footy club get out and let someone else do it. To me it points to a lack of strong leadership and this needs to be emphasised to the club. You do not need a survery, a peoples forum, a town hall meeting to understand whats wrong with any club. Thats why you have administrators. To me this just highlights the current lack of leadership at our club. Instead of completing the survey, respond with an email that explains to them that the direction of the club and it's performance is the direct responsibility of the current administration. If they don't believe they know how to fix whats wrong, stand down. |

Or Cimm, there's option C: The administration has several proposals and plans they're are developing, and this is one of a number of metrics they are using to sift through and validate said proposals and plans. Do people stop to let the oxygen hit their brain before they spout comments any more? |

I received the email and have done the survey. The questions centre around membership. What value you place on the different benefits you receive for the type of membership you have. It covers off on the different payment options and asks for feedback concerning the membership brochure and campaign slogan. |

Jimmae, what is new on the face of the football world that our club would learn from talking to a selected group of members.? As proffessional administrators surely they would be aware of what irks members and what it takes to run a succesful club. There are studies up the wazoo of what it takes to turn things around. If the club wants it can get professional advice from people who have had similar experiences running other codes or organisations around the world. Will they, no. Would they ask for your opinion or mine on weekly team selections and tactics, NO, and nor should they. The membership are ill equiped to make any recommendations on how to solve problems and by running everything by the membership before you implement anything you just slow the process down. It's a recipie for a whinge festival . Bottom up management was failed process of the 80's and 90's and hopefully will not be returning anytime soon. |

They're not asking for your opinion on how they should do their job... it's not an open free for all (any survey that has an area for "additional comments" is mostly for show). They've tailored the survey to gain answers to build further metrics that they want clarified. That's it. Answer the survey honestly, and you're providing data for the club to help with their existing decision making process. To ignore or pretend to appease the members/customers/voters is tantamount to professional suicide, no matter your position in the world. Cimm, you strike me as a decent bloke who puts a bit thought into his opinions, but you're bucking that trend with this effort. |

I got it and completed the survey. As others have said all pretty basic questions. I did recommend that Carlton develop a "WA Supporters Package" as I think the support for Carlton in WA is great and worthy of its own membership category. |

I also got one...and I filled it in. To all you conspiracy theorists out there IT IS SIMPLY A MARKETING SURVEY FOR MEMBERSHIP. Nothing to do with how the club is going on or off field. It is a survey monkey....nothhing more nothing less

I also received the survey. I filled it out and as important membership services are, our club needs to address the football department rather than concerning themselves with poorly proofread surveys. If the on field performances are below par, the regular souls hardy souls will always sign up but the icing on the membership cake will not. Pretty amateurish from our club. I want to see some heart and soul and promise of better things to come from the playing group - is it not too much to ask? |
