Etihad surface is disgraceful, and it really disadvantages us to have to play on that flower paddock five weeks in a row. Having to run 15k a game in long stops on a hard, shifting surface is doing our players no favours at all. What we wouldn't give to play all our home games at Princes Park. Sigh.

This is accepting mediocrity and IMHO, thats not what this football club is about!

I'm honestly not trying to be a smart arse with that comment. But it was perhaps the most stupid, self serving and brazenly deflective answer I've heard a coach give. As supporters I really think we deserve better.

I guess there was no comment then on what the club is trying to do about injecting some intelligence into Waite. He's my favorite player, and probably our most important - to have him running around doing that sort of thing 30 minutes into the last quarter nursing a 5 goals lead is not good enough considering how he's cost the club this year.

He's a great advertisement for research into some kind of brain chip/remote control technology, something with an override function you could enable when he's running towards opposition players.

Well I expected a top 6 finish at least with our maturing list of elite talents and an opportunity for a properly structured forward line so if there's a campaign being employed now to lower expectations well that's a bit deflating IMO.


Still, there's 5 rounds to go so lets hope Ratts can get the boys playing effective football.

It's such a great thing to set our goals at the start of the year and not have to worry about unimportant things, like how the season might play out when the real action starts, or how other teams' form may surprise us which may impact on where we could end up on the ladder.

I love it. Such clarity and singleminded vision should be applauded. It's not like a season throws you a curveball at any stage. Steady as she goes and all that.

Evidently, the fact we could have seriously pushed for top four and actually contended this year is unimportant considering we'd decided in February that making the eight, and maybe sneaking an elimination final win was good enough. Never mind that that when we dropped our bundle it was wrong/funny to be questioned because journos outside the club didn't think we were any good in the first place.
