Certainly will if we get 11 wins.

Important to follow up this week. Next 3 games are North, St.Kilda and Gold Coast here, 2 we should win and one 50/50. Dare say win them all and we are sitting in the 8. Can we maintain the motivation and rage though.

We havent won 3 in a row for a long time and four in a row for even longer - percentage above 100%? a few years as well....and thats with 6-8 key players out of the team basically all year.

Boys just need to keep working and pushing.

Its funny where yesterday was a game to celebrate and be happy with our depth - the comments are Collingwood are no good... just lol they convincingly beat Richmond last week and played great football for a half..... Grundy spearing 35 meter passes to the chest of leading forwards, Henry taking strong marks and kicking good goals. Boys just worn them down out of grit.

Yep. Agree Walsh. We did work them over and re-adjusted to close down the Collingwood short kicks in the 2nd half. Also won our clearances in the last which helped. Fisher thrown in the middle helped as well.

We can definitely make the 8 on 11 wins, but we'd still need other results to go our way. Conceding a loss to Port away, North, GC, St Kilda and GWS are all winnable. I'd expect to beat North and GC, while StK and GWS are 50/50 at best. Realistically I'd expect we'll win 2-3 more games, but if we play the way we did in the last quarter yesterday, winning 4 is not out of the question.

We'll need to be a game clear of Richmond and the scum as their percentage will almost definitely be higher, so we'd need them to only win 2 games each. We'd be relying on GWS to beat them both unless there is an upset ie. Richmond losing to North or Hawthorn, Scum losing to Gold Coast or Collingwood (which is possible). We'd be an outside chance of overtaking Richmond on percentage if they win 3 games, but they're about 100 points ahead of our differential so we'd need some big wins

The other possibility is West Coast going on a horror run and dropping out altogether. They're so unpredictable, they could well lose games against St Kilda, Freo, Collingwood (in melb), but could also beat Melbourne and Brisbane. If they only win 2 more we'll go close to overtaking them on percentage.

On squiggle, these results will get us home.

Fanciful but not impossible. At least it keeps things interesting with lots of teams in the mix playing each other in the final 5 rounds. Now as reward for posting that we'll go and get belted by North on Saturday

Team keeps improving individually and as a team.
Returning players from injury gives us talent and pressure on spots.
The sniff of finals may reinvigorate the team and their desperation to win.

Goal: Turn a crap year into a good year.

Anything can happen. Other than Effendrug* win vs NM, results have been going our way....may they continue to do so.

Not a snowflakes chance.
We are more likely to lose to GWS and St.K.

Yes, as per my post I think those games are 50/50 at best and we might come away with one win out of them, but we could also lose one of the North and GC games, so I'd expect us to win 2-3 more and miss the 8 comfortably.

But the thread is about IF we get to 11 wins, can we make the 8, which we can.

to win. Really doesn’t matter what the other teams do if we don’t get the job done. Control what we can control & the rest will take care of itself.

We're supporters, we can't control anything. For us barracking at home, these are the results that will give us the best chance of making the 8

Win the next 3, 2 which are "should wins", one 50/50, and our fate will be in our own hands.

Let’s take one game at a time
A sign of maturity from this team and coaches will to be able to keep the hammer down and win several games in a row and the ones we should win
In the past 8 years even when we were better than now we dropped games to lesser sides because we didn’t bring the appropriate intensity

Totally agree Frank. Let's just see if they turn up this week where the expectation is on them to win. Will they be asleep at the wheel for a quarter or a half before something clicks? I'd just like to see a consistently good four quarters rather than having to rely on one fantastic quarter to get them off the hook.

Also will be interesting to see whether they played their grand final in the 4th quarter with an emotional dump for Jack and Serge and then come out with zero energy or aggression this week coz they spent all their between the ears tickets rallying against the Filth. Do it for Serge for every single game remaining this season should be the mantra moving forward.

I reckon the Pies themselves had a bit of that going on after their win over the Tiges.
