Percentage is going to decide the 8, I reckon.
8-18 is going to haunt us.

And Robbie Gray :banghead:

And Melbourne.
And Hawthorn.
And coughing up big leads against Geelong, Norf and *.
And Nathan Williamson.

If we (IMO most likely) finish in the 9th-11th range just outside the 8 on percentage, one would hope the players would look back on these moments not with the "gee whiz that's a bit of a shame" feeling projected at the time, but a genuine burning desire to never let it @#$%&! happen again. I saw this in the GC game a little, where we put our foot down after we allowed them some unearned cheapies.

I think for too long this group has been far enough from contention that the consequences of missing opportunities and lack of composure haven't really been understood. But they're now the difference between finals and an also-ran year.

Great post.

I hope the boys think the same way ... and .. I think they will.

All this talk of percentage, who's to say we can't spank teams over the next few weeks. Have faith

I agree. We have scope for building percentage against Sydney and Adelaide.
But this will be pointless if we don’t beat one or both of the Filth and GWS.

Go Blues!

Let’s not wait for next week on form we should beat the Carringbush but we know it’s not that easy
This could be a coming of age match for our boys and really propel us upward both this season and for a few more
Most important game for 5 years or so in my view in that we are actually relevant again and can start to compete properly with the good teams
Also to win 3 in a row would be an achievement in itself
Go Blues

A narrow win to Freo today would be handy

Definitely possible. Freo have been in decent form. Their only loss in the past month was to us after the siren. Other than that they’ve smashed Sydney and beat Hawthorn and Collingwood. They also beat St Kilda a bit before that.

On the other hand GWS have only had one win in the past month, by 4 points over the scum. They got belted by Sydney, lost to WC and had a bye. Still expect GWS to win but it’s not a monty

The season seems to be slipping away now.
We really needed that percentage boost last week.
Now we need to hope the other teams loose more and by more points.
Fingers crossed.

Melbourne beating StKilda is good for us. Melbourne a flakey and will lose games they are expected to win. StKilda might only have one more win in them. Just win in the next 2 weeks and evreything else will fall our way.

I love the confidence Surrey.
I'm hoping we win them too.
But even if we do, we still need our percentage to be around 110%.
Either way, we will know more tomorrow afternoon.

I love the optimism, but today didn't help us at all.

Two wins to teams competing for the same spots in the 8, already with higher percentage.

It makes our task even harder.

Even if we win all of our remaining games, we still need other results to go our way.

I think in the end we’ll have to win 4/5, beating Collingwood and GWS in the process. I reckon 3/5 will have us just short

Robbie was beyond our control. OK, the twenty seconds before that...

We wanted StK to win.

St Kilda losing might actually turn out to be a good thing. They are two wins ahead of us but have played 2 more games. They have a harder run home than Melbourne with hawthorn, WC and GWS to come. Melbourne have Sydney, freo, GWS, and scum. Probably 3-4 wins there

Blown our chance you would think
Don’t play 4 quarters nearly enough to be a finals team

We were never going to beat Pies and Giants and then Crows and Saints. That would have been 6 in a row. Hopefully this was our off week and we win the next 3 with the Bris game (hopefully with them having locked up a top 4 spot) to make finals

Obviously I want us to make the finals but for me the priority is getting our systems in place and establishing which players will actually have a positive impact when we do get there.

Today once again highlighted the need for more midfield players, imagine if Collingwood had Trelor and Sidebottom playing. We could only dream of being competitive if Cripps and say Walsh or Ed were out.

Doubt we will play finals this year however I really do hope that we can win 3 of the next 4 games.

I just can't see us beating GWS and Brizzy at the Gabba.
I did after the GCS game.

Cripps Docherty and pittonet were out of puff late in the 3rd.

Teague doesn't seem to rotate mids near enough to avoid this kind of fatigue.

I believed Russell had them primed to come home strong at this stage, perhaps over run teams.
Its quite the opposite
