Here is an avid carlton supporter and his interesting view on why this bad result happened yesterday - http://www.thebigtip.com.au/afl/blues-must-look-answers Quote: The stem consists of having no backup game plan for when the going is getting tough, continuously leading and working together to create space in the forward line and disposal. Too many players are looking dead on their feet when we have the opportunity to score and the continuous bombs long into the forward 50 last night reminded Carlton fans of the Fevola days, minus Fevola.

Maybe I'm way off but I notice that when a player comes up from the bullants they tend to look completely lost within the frenetic pace and pressure of AFL level. There seems to be a growing divide between the 2 levels. I remember someone (maybe Doc?) posting in the preseason that watched the doggies train and commented how fast and urgent they trained. Question for our bullant watchers - Is the bullants team being pushed enough and urged to play at a frenetic pace with urgency which tests their thought processes under pressure? I know the VFL can't replicate the pressure cooker environment of AFL but is it possible to lift the tempo level? Fitness is obviously an issue with young draftees but there's no limit on interchange rotations yet so fitness shouldn't be too much of an issue. Can we up the ante on the young bullant guys in a controlled way that develops their urgency and workrate a bit better? |

I mean that will always be an issue I think but yeah they may not be replicating to best they can for AFL level. You never know how any these players will go untill they play in the highest level no matter how well there playing in the lower level. |
