Sounds as if they are about to go to town on Brett Ratten and our club. A caller rang through rubbishing Ratten and his negative reactive style of coaching and is calling for his head to which David King said he agrees. And now David King will explain why he agrees with that call. |

David King is a Muppet. Actually, that's being a bit harsh on muppets. |

Are you actually listening to it? cause i think everything he has said is SPOT ON Puppet, muppet or not, brilliant to hear him someone saying what most of us are saying but backing it up with examples of what went wrong. and i don't hear Gerard Heally, Dayne Russell and Brian Taylor disagreeing with anything he is saying. |

I'm sure there will be excerpts of it replayed tonight on On The Couch, should Carlton come up in the discussion at some stage. |

Hardly said anything earth shattering. If he'd come on the radio last Monday and said our forward line structure wouldn't work against the Bulldogs perhaps then he could be considered a guru. Tonight he was just stating the bleeding obvious. |

Now you don't hear many people coming out with such strong comments. |

David King is a hack. Didn't he get sacked from Richmond? Whilst I agree Ratten needs to go, King comes up with the following: - For Carlton to win a game, they need the game played at frenetic pace (agreed) but if you slow them down they will lose and can't work it out. That is what the Bulldogs did last ngiht ![]() - On combating Lake: Ratten should've crowded Lake out and had 3 or 4 forwards play on him so he couldn't get a one on one ![]() Dud Ratten is still shit though |

Whilst I didn't hear him put it in those terms, after such a loss he's hardly setting the world on fire saying he doesn't think Ratten has got us closer to a premership than we were 18 months ago. |

Do you listen to David King much? Doc was just about spot on in the first reply. |

Putting Hendo behind the ball yesterday when the game was getting away from us just came across as though he was trying to limit the losing margin, rather than trying to win. anyone else notice this? |

A caller rang through last night saying he thinks Ratten reactive negative game plan is hurting the club and setting us back. He also said if Ratten applied for any coaching jobs that came available he'd get none so why is he coaching us. He also said if Malthouse became available we should get him David King agreed and said he thinks it might happen. He was given a chance tonight to explain why he shares the same view and this is what he said DAVID KING: I've watched plenty of Carlton games this year and if they cant get it on there terms and played at a frantic pace they don't perform. They need the game payed at frantic speed to be able to get free and impact the scoreboard and if it becomes a slow methodical game they look lost and confused. GERARD HEALY: If the game finished at halftime i'd agree with Brett Ratten thats most of there problems emanated from poor disposals but you can't deny the fact and Brett cant deny the fact that they got the ball inside 50 enough but got it in with no structure and given the forwards no chance to kick goals. DAVID KING: Brian Lake must have had the Carlton playbook because because the entries were basic, it was easy for him to read DAYNE RUSSELL: Well Brian Lake said last night on 3AW that he had done his research and basically knew which Carlton players kick with which foot and where they usually kick the ball going inside 50, he knew how many steps they'd take before kicking it DAVID KING: He had as many intercept marks as the entire team had inside 50 DAVID KING: I agree with the caller and stand by my comments and if a Mick Malthouse became available they got to get him and think it will happen. BRIAN TAYLOR: So you blame Brett Ratten DAVID KING: I thought the Lake situation was bordering fascicle at the end of the first quarter GERARD HEALLY: so with Carlton not blessed with depth and he missing personal what would you have done to DAVID KING: I thought he could have put more traffic around lake using 3 or 4 other forwards around the space and not make it a one on one which is Lake strength. He wasn't worrying about defending, he was going in and marking the ball. They needed more traffic in the area to confuse Lake and absolutely nothing got done. DAVID KING: My biggest concern is more about the future and not about winning the game yesterday and next week. Its about winning a premiership in the furture and they way they are going they wont |

I can't help but watch tonight. Thanks to Ch10 moving OWAAT to 9.30pm means I now get to watch The 7.30land Report and miss Q&A. We were getting the Ch9 show on HD last year but not any more. I'm hoping there is a decent discussion on OTC and OWAAT tonight. |
