We are the softest side in the league by a country mile. And have monkeys in the coaching box. |

disappointing to be 7-6 at the break. could've been alot better, though if you asked ANY carlton supporter after the nab cup where we'd be at the break, 7-6 would've made alot of people happy. I remember looking at the scoreboard late in the third quarter, and of the top 10 stats getters on the ground, just 1 was a docker. we had the better in most areas, just turned it over far too often, over posessed. i feel we lost that game, as opposed to freo dominating. Well done freo, a much better drilled team unit! |

I wanted to tear my eyeballs out but decided to save that for the Verbeek master coaching session later tonight. I'm almost over this team. Put a bit of pressure on and we revert to headless-chook footy. |

massive dissapointment in our first three quarters, we worked hard but to no avail kicking was shocking and not just in front of goal. Althogh JR has come on in leaps and bounds this year still feel we have big problems in the back half especially trying to get it out. Not overly concerned about the Kruzer injury I don't think it will have that big an impact he hasn't been in great form all year. It will now force the MC to give Hammer a go. Eddie is struggling I know he kicked 5 last week and his last quarter this week was exciting but he dissapears for way too long and too often. Was really happy with Hendo's effort all night he contested well. Waite could be in a bit of strife with the tribunal again this week. Time and again Walsy said in the commentary there is no one putting any physical pressure on the guy tagging Judd each week we need to get a few guy's prepared to stand up for him. Really disappointed with our last two weeks, hope they can find something over the next month! |

so here is my take in some respects proud of the boys tonight - I mean if something could go wrong, it did, if an umpire could ignore a free or pay it to them, they did, if you thought what would be the worst thing to happen against Freo it'd be a ruckman goes down - he did, if you could hit the post, we did, if you could fumble, we did. Yet @#$%&! we tried hard. WE did but we lost because we are still not there. BUT Jammo hmmm' Carrots hmmmm Houla hmmmmm Jacobs hmmm - 'cept for that tap on the ground in the kast. Tex as a back delivering it - hmmmm T-Bird as a backman - hmmmmm |

Poor kicking costs you games...nothing to do with coaching when you're missing shots like we did in the first quarter. You end up playing catch up footy and if you look at just about every game where a team gets up by 4-5 goals they don't get rolled. We got no reward for effort in the first quarter. I don't know the end of game stats for inside 50s but up until 3 qtr time we were smashing them in inside 50s. We gave ourselves enough opportunities but didn't take them. This was all with so many poor users of the ball kicking inside 50. Carrazzo was back to the old Carrazzo of chasing uncontested possessions. His handball receives would be fairly high given the way he chased the ball. Fremantle players actually allowed him the extra space as they would rather the ball in his hands than a Gibbs or Judd. Hadley was similar - was given time and space to kick (butcher) the ball. These players should not be chasing uncontested possession; they simply don't have the skill once they have the ball to be damaging. Walker was another who turned the ball over terribly; he's returned to the type of kicking he's been known for for most of his career. AJ again confused his ambitions with his capabilities, when will this arrogant flower learn to play within his limitations. It's such a shame because he did a terrific defensive job on Ballantyne. You would've thought after so many times of being caught holding the ball that he'd learn...obviously there isn't a lot upstairs with AJ. The defensive group seem to have dropped off in the last 4 weeks; we appear to be losing more 50/50 contests than we did before. Teams are having a higher percentage of scoring shots per inside 50...it was a strength earlier in the season but for some reason we cannot kill the ball or rebound with any purpose. We actually forced Freo to turn the ball over a fair bit at half back/wing but we then fumbled the ball a lot and were unable to capitalise on all the hard work. There were so many marking contests where too many players went up for the spoil and there were too few at ground level. When this did happen often the spoil would be ineffective (the ball would go over the back) You have to laugh at the flogs who wrote off Lachie Henderson after about 6 games. ![]() ![]() |
