Pros
- Another cracking opening to game, we were tackling hard & applied plenty of pressure
- Waite & Walker fantastic early
- Murphy improving his defensive side
- Garlett does nice things even when quiet
- Houlihan slots in nicely to a stronger team where his attacking flair can fourish
- Jacobs looking more athletic and making good fist of his opportunities
- Jamo all class
- JR & Scotland continuing good seasons
- Simpson fantastic, only good thing to come out of 2002 for us
- Judd magnificent when team needed it most

Cons
- Too slow to adapt to wet weather footy
- Dropped our intensity & got pantsed by Melb in middle part of game
- Still question marks over our mental abilities
- Put ourselves in a position where we needed someone like Judd to step up to win us the game

Overall, though, pretty happy to be firmly inside the 8 with a 7-4 record at the half way mark of the season. Ratten and his side get a big tick from me, despite still having plenty of room to improve. The future looks good folks, the future looks good.

And Mrs Caz is trying out the new slow cooking hot pot with the Lamb shanks. Perfect end to a cold Melbourne footy day after a win.

Yummy!

Mrs Camel made some Lamb shanks today too. But I'm about to head off to the Wallabies before getting back on the couch for the Sam Stosur final.

Well maybe next time it rains in February we won’t cancel the practice match!

Jumped them early, we were ‘on’, and despite our inability to handle the wet conditions after half time, we came home well for a good win.

PROS

1. Walker – that’s what we’ve been waiting for! Run run run. Was fantastic.

2. Carrazzo – Becoming a formidable tagger. Ling-like in the way he hurts both ways. Towelled up Davey.

3. Russel – could he be HBF All Australian this year?

4. Aaron Joseph – Started the season slowly but in the one-on-ones, you’d back him every time.

5. Chris Judd – Showed mountains of leadership in the last quarter to stabilise the team when we looked shaky.

Special mention to R. Hadley who has Brock the treadmill covered by so far it’s sad. Hope he stays fit.

Special mention to ‘the fish’ Sauce Jacobs who was the only Carlton player to enjoy the wet.

CONS

1. Gibbs at full back on Green – Started on the wing but the Dees cottoned on and put Green to full forward. The moment this happened another Carlton player should have gone to Green (32 or 26) releasing Gibbs. The move came waaaaaay too late.

2. The wet conditions – Very lucky we were up by 5 goals when it came. Our wet weather skills were PATHETIC! Melbourne handled the ball cleanly and we couldn’t catch.

3. Contested ball and clearances – we were surprisingly beaten around the ball after the first 15 minutes.

4. Forward line dysfunction – Great Q1 but didn’t click after quarter time. Too many passes to non-dangerous positions.

5. Can’t think of anything – that will surprise everyone! Maybe Mitch can lower his eyes a bit when he has the ball but he played well!

Great effort to the half way hut. COME ON YOU BLUES!

I didn't mention Houla - Consistently Under rated player, who is a very important cog in our forward line.

Good team performance.

Thornton is good up front....took Ratten abit of time to try him up there.
One of Houlas best game in his career.
Judd is amazing.
Love watching Robbo.

Ando is not AFL standard.

Pros:

The half back line
Houla
Jacobs

Cons:

Letting them back in
Having to move to the top of the stands to not get soaked :P
UMPIRING.. 52 frees? That's 20 more then either of the other games.

Just got back from the game and conditions brought back memories of winter footy days gone by

Pros:

To me it was never in doubt even though Melb got a run on in the 3rd
Jacobs great game
1AW
Carrots
JR
Judd-when it was needed

Cons:

Browne looked lost
Ando as well but I like the fact he tries to take the game on.
But the biggest con was the very poor effort from Garlett today...gave very little....should be dropped this week.

Not for the lamb.

Pro : we were 6 goals up when the rain came

it actually looked like we were either going to drown or melt !!! our structure did not adapt and our wet weather skills were evidently worse than our opponents.

pro : we play our next five under a roof!!! so all that shouldn't matter !

Nevertheless, I trust the coaching and playing staff will learn a lot from today.

credit to the coaching staff who rejigged at three quarter time....putting Robo deep as a target...and getting a loose man on the goal line to prevent their goals skidding through !

I think everyone is quietly pleased with a 7-4 result at the half way mark....but still a lot of work to do !

coaches have certainly instilled more structure and there is certainly a strong semblance of a game plan which is still evolving...big tick.

the backline - led by Jamo and the most improved sportsman in the world JRuss- is starting to look threatening with run coming from everywhere (imagine when bowser and army are back!!!)

the midfield is potent with the obvious regulars and special mention to the most consistent K Simpson and the evergreen Scotto

the forwardlne has adapted beyond my wildest dreams...but still is a work in progress (I think Yazz adds that bit of magic !)

Here's dreaming of a happy Spetember - let's start with a home final...then a finals win...then ?????

Congratulations on your 50th post livolover. That could be the happiest of the lot.

I reckon as a good a first 50 as the Kreuzer!

Good start - upset Melbourne early with physicality

Won another game at the G where the finals are played :smoking:

Forward line -houlihan waite

Houlihans left foot screw goal out of traffic nearly the best blue goal this year
carrazzo on davey been beating him for years

Kreuz/sauce combo wore jamar down

Robbo coming along nicely still does errant kicks and sometimes not going for the best option but going well - should be close NRS but not fashionable so will probably be ignored (not bad for pick 40 - ps not a bad soccer goal either

Won without garlett and setanta kicking a goal

Won without yarran lucas warnock mclean bower hammer hendo playing

Russell scotland continue to deliver ball from wing and hbf

walker team has looked better when he has played this year

Won without murphy judd or gibbs being dominant -

Another game for anderson browne robinson

Simmo our most consistent player in 11 rounds
7/4 after 11 rounds -really good given our horror early draw

Cons
third quarter -waite report -the over selling of how good melbourne are all week and during radio coverage today - not much different average age of 2 sides today
