Would like to know people's thoughts on how CFC and the MC seem to be fairing in regards to after the summer's horrible run in the press. As a club we seem to have put a line in the sand .. the decision on Fev was long over due but once made we seemed to have moved forward .... funny thing is I think in the end we would have accepted three "magic" beans for him and ended up getting a superlative deal (Thanks Voss u hump!) Then we moved onto the booze cruise and the Walker, Houlihan and Betts incidents. Well all I can say is that we are almost at the half way point of the season, there have pretty much been no further incidents and those involved in the earlier indiscretions have pulled thier heads in, worked thier butts off and seem to be having great seasons. Over the season as well the MC are making the hard calls in regards to players losing form CFC is no longer carrying players if thier form does not justify it ... examples of this were Waite and T-bird's dropping, ommitting McLean this week, Warnock's dropping as well etc. So what do we reckon have we fainally grown a pair? If so who do we thank? Is it just that we seem to have more depth or is it deeper than that? We seem to be moving in the right direction but should we be doing more as well? Discuss. |

Good post bb and I agree that firm decisions have been made which is a credit to Ratts and his MC. As far as off-field incidents go, we only know what we are told. ![]() I like the introduction of Jamo's Junk and Rusty's Round-Up for the fans to get a bit more insight into their players but I think the rubbish/lies dished up from the PR department re injuries is very poor form. |

I agree BB. Especially in regard to selection. Having greater depth helps but they do seem to be making the hard calls. |

How do dropping Scotland and Stevo in the middle of last season fit into this timeline? ![]() |

In regards to Brock McLean, I don't think he's in our best 22 and shouldn't of been playing last week. He's got a long way to go before he's an automatic inclusion in our side. With that said............... i'm starting to think that maybe he has been playing injured for most of this year. He surely cannot be THAT slow????? Impossible. If he is carrying an injury, then why not rest him for a good 3-4 weeks and bring him back through the Bullants. |

He is carrying an injury, but sadly - yes, he is that slow. |

Belisarius wrote: How do dropping Scotland and Stevo in the middle of last season fit into this timeline? ![]() I think last year the boys and upper management were too chummy. I really think you also have to appreciate the negative influence Fev was having on the playing group. In every way, playing field, training track, booze ups and him being a gambling degenerate. These were a bunch of talented, young and therefore easily led players on our list. This was Ratten's first big show of balls ... and it worked. Plus needed to be done I was starting to call Stevo KFC but in the end if he can come back, 90% his best would we consider him for depth? Anyway, Ratten too was finding his way. Cannot grow huge balls .... have to grow with the team, let them know who is boss but also give them chances to prove themselves. What Ratten has done, I am sure with Browne and Anderson is take them aside and told them a few home truths. They are depth but improving players. Give them a couple of weeks each but better players at the moment will be coming back in the fold .... so show us how you have improved ... you have 2 games. So yeah in a nutshell, someone wrote in another thread that he believed Ratten was the most improved coach in the AFL. When I read that I agreed. The Stevo/Scotland incedent was on the road to him being a great coach. Still not there yet but me thinks is starting to look A1. |

Some fair points Brazil, I was just checking to see if you realised that the hard decisions were being made a little earlier than the Fev decision ![]() Probably their low point was the Fev window urinal incident a couple of seasons back. They were as soft as butter with that. |
