Disappointing loss.

Not helped by injuries, but we clearly didn't handle the Hawthorn zoning and they obviously put a lot of work into shutting our run and linking up through the middle of the ground.

The next step for us is coping with teams doing a lot of work on our game plan.

Disappointing to lose but I don't know why people are so surprised.

This was clearly our worst team in for the year and on top of that, we were two men down from early in the game. We just had too many important players not able to contribute against clearly Hawthorn's best team for the season. Hawthorn are not that bad; most of those players played in their Premiership in 2008. We should have got a bit closer in the third quarter but the margin isn't surprising given our lack of rotation options for most of the game.

No excuses thanks - we have a list and everyone must contribute.

Face it we don't have the depth and without our best 22 we are stuffed.

Army - very poor one in five bad games is OK
Ando - not good enough - BYE
Betts - two bad ones in a row - three strikes and you are out.
Garlett & Yarran - inconsistent but understandable.
Hendo - good boy.
Setanta - see army.
White - see Ando.

spot on... we looked tired early on and credit to Hawthorn they really pressured our back line run and consequently the delivery into the forward line was ordinary.

definately down to the bare bones in terms of players (probably 4 out there that wouldnt be in our best 25)

injuries will test us over the next 2-3 weeks..... shallow pool to pick from.

They locked us up tight and we couldn't move....well planned and executed.....good game Hendo; you're learning now.

Why wasn't this game moved to the G? Two big drawcards, and I think the wide open spaces of the G would've helped us too.

Lack of rotation definitely played a part.

However, tackling pressure was pretty bad from the first bounce (although it did improve late, but after the first qtr damage was done). Tackles need to stick, stick, stick.

Disappointing loss, but we'll bounce back next week. I expect the Blues to win the next one.

Carn Blues!!! Keep the wins coming! Don't drop off now!

i was at the game
and i was @#$%&! disgusted
setanta and eddie missing the @#$%&! easy goals late in the 3rd quarter cost us momentum
NO ONE TURNED UP TO PLAY
judd was disgraceful
im not sold on the hawks at all
this reliance on judd is not acceptable and the whole team had a shocker
any word on white and johnson???

I couldnt agree anymore i thought this all week and was worried about this game. We were always going to be flat eventually, we have beeen up for quite a few weeks in a row now and we are still young and learning to be consistent which i think is coming. Hopefully we can get back on track and be 9 wins 4 loses after rd 13.

Too many blokes had bad days. The disposal out of the backline lacked polish (ahem Thornton cough). Carrots had a shocker, ditto the three amigos, knew Carlos would struggle after the Age stitched him up and Judd struggled to get space.'

More injuries too

IMHO, you have it completely wrong on Simon White. Going to be a very good player. Ando I agree with.

today we were beaten by a much better side on the day.

they worked out our game plan and had us off balance right from the get go. We were lucky we weren't 6 goals down at qtr time.

They had numbers at the ball, blocked up the centre coridoor, and manned up very well. PLus other than the 3rd, seemed to smash us out of the centre. It reminded me very much of the saints game in reverse.

I thought only two layers could hold their head high today - Jacobs and Henderson (special mentions to Kruezer, Jamo and Joseph).

Agree on this. He's been poor a few times this year. If he can't take his chances then he can take a break.

I don't really think we're in much of a position to drop players (let alone, senior players) on form right now.

Betts is replaceable. We already have two quicker, taller versions of him. If he cant chase and tackle and can't take his chances then its the ants until he can.

Pattern and result was set in the first 5mins.

Hawks were harder and won the contests and forced us to play slow wide football, exactly the style that brings us undone.

Third quarter was gutsy but you could see we would be run over in the last without any rotations on the bench. Hawks doubled our rotations by the way and set a new competition record.

Put this game in the vault with the Essendon* game on how NOT to play and lets move on to the Eagles with a debutant.

Am honestly not surprised. Tipped the Hawks to get over us today. With the games we had coming up, we had to drop a game somewhere.

Look forward to the next three weeks. After losing today we're better placed to win our next three.
