First let me just say that I don't want to use our lack of fit players as an excuse for our pathetic effort today. The game was lost well before any of our players went down. But the rate that our players are dropping is concerning me. I have the utmost faith in Cordy and co, and have defended him to the hilt when others have attacked him (usually happens everytime Walker gets injured), but I have to start wondering wtf is going on down there. Beside the fact that our comms department are infuriatingly coy in giving us information, we always seem to have massive holes in our team due to injuries alone and in particular it seems that if you're height is above 5'8 or you're a player finally finding some form after a long time, chances are you'll get a serious/ongoing injury at some stage. Jamison: Suspect shoulder Walker: Where to begin Fisher: Knee and shoulder problems Waite: Did his knee Austin: Simply never seems to be right Warnock: Missed all of 2009 Bower: Again, don't know where to begin Hampson: We still don't have any @#$%&! clue what's happening there Another area where we need players fit and firing, tough nuts in the middle: Hadley: In addition to breaking his arm, has struggled with various ailments McLean: Hip complaint Now today we can add Houlihan, Johnson, White, Lucas and possibly Yarran to the list. RoK, our great white hope in the backline, hasn't been sighted. It seems our players aren't trained to be tough. They're not trained to stand up for themselves and show their opposition number that they're not to be trifled with. There's an automatic "I won't retaliate" vibe that seems to come from our players and it invites flogs like Hawthorn and Collingwood to mentally and physically dominate us. I think I'm quite justified in asking wtf is going on down there. Anyone agree? |

When was the last time Austin played even part of a game? To me that is the most frustrating. |

What type of training will cause them to avoid bone and ligament damage in games? |

Muscle injuries are more the curse than joint/ bone injuries When we half the side going down with calf or quad strains then questions need to be asked. |

Was at the game without a radio, can anyone fill us in on what happened to White, Johnson and Yazz? Secondly, maybe you can blame muscle strains/tears etc on Cordy as that's what you seem to want. But honestly to list Waite in there? He did his knee. WTF is Cordy meant to do about that? Likewise Fisher, Walker and Jamison (who hasn't missed a game this year btw) Can you name a team that doesn't have these type of injuries. The Crows with the sports scientist as coach have been decimated. Likewise today's opponents are only now getting their best team on the park. Their fitness coach took Port to top spot in consecutive years, then to a flag and then took an extremely youthful Hawks to the 2008 flag. It's a bloody hard game and every team at some stage will suffer from injuries. We've actually had a very good run in the last year and a half - now we're under the pump. To some extent that's the nature of the game. Communications is a different issue. |

Anyone agree? Nah, don't agree. That's the first time I've heard anything negative about Cordy. I've never heard of him being attacked, even for Walker's injury. Mate, the bloke's a guru. I am grateful Sir Richard Pratt got us the best. Look, we've been hit with injury. It's a horrible situation we're in, but 5 wins 4 loosses is still a pass And yes losing to a near top strength Hawks team had a lot to do with us missing alot of our best players: Waite, Bower, Walker, Houlihan, Hadley, McLean, Lucas, Warnock Austin underdone, Grigg still out too, and add lsoing White and Johnson during the game. Yep, I'd say those missing from our best 22, makes a huge difference to Carlton. Have a look at the team we'll field this week; there's no one left to choose with AFL experience except for Wiggins. We'll have some of our key troopers coming back in the next 2-3 weeks and they will reinforce the team. |

Comes up when Walker gets injured, or we run out of puff late in a game. Like I said, I've got toal faith in Cordy and his crew but it makes our current predicament all the more puzzling to me. And more than anything it's simply frustration on my part because it always seems to happen just as these guys are getting to their best. Hell, even Fisher was looking good before he went down. My other question still stands though, is enough down to make our players tough enough to stand up for themselves against bullies like the hawks? Given the very slight age difference I don't know if that can be an excuse. |

I reckon you guys are being a bit harsh on Don. He's just lamenting our injuries, and wondering the reason behind them. He's not making any accusations, just asking the question. There's no harm in asking a question right? |

I think team Cordy are doing a great job. We were just mentally flat as a tack today. Still lack maturity/mental strength. |

What pisses me off is that the filth hardly get any injuries ( bar Medhurst ) Must be that pre-season high altitude training and the lack of travelling ![]() |
