Hi all,
I wasn't sure if this should be in Talking Carlton or Stuff but ...
The talk of cycling on here the other month got me thinking of how much I would love a Carlton inspired cycling jersey. I know that the AFL won't be in a hurry to make them so I have contacted some printers I know and they would be able to make some up for around $35 but would need an order of 10 or more. I was thinking of navy blue (obviously) with the cfc monogram on the front and maybe the mars logo on front at back with a number (they'd all have to have the same number).

If there are enough orders, we could maybe look at doing one as an 'away strip' too ..

So, if any cyclists want one either respond in here or PM me and i'll try and get an order together.

For those of you that don't cycle, i envisage that they will have 3 good sized pockets in the back which are very handy for throwing a couple of four and twentys and chips in as you make your way through the crowd at the footy, or would even hold three cans if you are watching the game at the pub .... so feel free to order one too :)
As an added bouns, with people's attitudes to cyclists being pretty evident on this forum, at least by us wearing a carlton inspired jeresy, you may reserve your right to run us off the road just this once ;)

Cheers

I'd be interested in one too - but only if they come in Xtra Xtra Fat sizing, as most size XL cycling gerseys are XL in an elite athlete kinda way - as opposed to a robust individual like myself....

Huge dilemma...

I mean, I'd want to hit them with my car but I'd be torn because of the carlton logo...

Quandry.

The reverse strip would be better for visibility.

As long as they don't wear flowering lycra into cafe's during my weekend breakfasts, go for it.

Maybe if you pitch it as Carlton branded 'skins' or dry-fit as Nike calls it, you might get this off the ground.

Or is cycling lycra a bit tougher (so to speak)?

If you do it without approval from the AFL you can expext a visit from their lawyer.

Yep, that's what popped into my mind.

I like the idea, but it's treading dangerous ground.

And I'm sure that especially with The Spew in charge, to produce an officially licensed product with an AFL-owned logo on it, you'd have to fork out a large wad of dosh for the privilege.

I am not sure about that, because people are making them for personal use, not for sale.

The printer may be the one with legal ramifications because they are selling them for profit. If they don't mind, I can't see that the end user will be in trouble.

If everyone deposited $35 bucks in Showbags account and he bought them and gave them as "gifts", what law are they breaking by wearing the clothes????
I would stay away from the Mars logo and defintely no AFL logo. Maybe put AVCO on the back.

Firstly someone in power has to see you wearing it. Then they have to stop you and get you to confess where you got it made. Relax.

It's the AFL logo that would get you into trouble if anything, they're a little overprotective of their IP.

Exactly, they need to find out who produced them for it to be a problem. Just tell them you bought it down the market, and watch them swoop

Down the market in BAngkok...even better.

Issue would be that no-one has paid for the "Cycling top" -AFL licence.

Could be worth finding out what the AFL want for it.....
