First, some context with last years top 10:

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... rest+Votes

1st Chris Judd 558
2nd Marc Murphy 451
3rd Bryce Gibbs 415
4th Brendan Fevola 390
5th Matthew Kreuzer 311
6th Jordan Russell 281
7th Paul Bower 279
8th Kade Simpson 254
9th Bret Thornton 225
10th Aaron Joseph 201

Judd will win it for sure. Fevola is gone, Bower would have top votes for one game (Walker for two) and Thornton has been in & out of the team (and not performing). Murphy started positively despite the injury but tags and a bit of a panic would have him back in the park for mine. Houlihan would lift from 11th given not just the fact that he has to play a role but because he is doing so very very well at it. Simpson is the spark and his last few games - no his season - have been magnificent. Scotland is back in the mix for a very solid year. Carlos gets consistent votes, Jamo performs but as a top FB he'll only scrape the edges in todays game.

Id go:

1st Chris Judd
2nd Bryce Gibbs
3rd Kade Simpson
4th Jordan Russell
5th Ryan Houlihan
6th Carlos
7th Heath Scotland
8th Marc Murphy
9th Army
10th Michael Jamison

With some fitness, Walker and Bower could storm into the top 10 - they'll get votes because of the significance of their roles. Eddie and the helpers are the polish but wont get the votes and Kruezer has been solid other than this weeks game.

Any other thoughts?

Simpson has polled in all games for me except one. He's leading at this stage from Judd, Murphy, Scotland, Kreuzer and Jamison.

Sheesh I'd have Russell easily on top when you consider how well he polled last year and his improvement this year. Those ignoring Carrazzo must be insane, he has at least 2 maybe 3 BOGs.

I just cannot fathom how anyone could possibly pass Judd (albeit since round 4). The amount of sheer physical labour exerted is just so immense it surpasses anything any other player in the league does. Sure his handpasses or kicks on occasion do not find a target, but that's due to the sheer impossibility of the congested situation he's literally forced his way into our out of. I sigh in disbelief how he just continues to get from contest after contest and be in the thick of it. He is leading the league in tackles and yet is one of the best line-breakers going around. It beggars belief that we cannot find someone else to do the inside work consistently.

Apologies for the rant. There are a number of players I love, but it's always reflective of my perception of their work ethic. I see it as no coincidence that when Judd is rested our clearance work becomes virtually non-existent and the general balance of the game starts changing.

The B&F is about who is the most important player on the field in any given game. My personal opinion is that since round 4 it has not changed in spite of an overall balanced effort.

I reckon barring injury Juddy has pretty much got the Brownlow sewn up.

As for the B&F, I think Russell will give it a crack, with Simpson, Judd and Carazzo all thereabouts

Judd all the way (barring injury).

Yes, of course, my mistake re: Carrazzo. Pure error on my part. Probably 5th or 6th, but no higher in MHO.

I wouldnt have thought Russell would be top 2 but close behind; nothing against him but his last 6 rounds of 2009 surely had a "OMG He's coming through" factor which swayed the judges at the time. So you got a top 10?

judd would be rapidly closing in on carrazzo and russell if he has not caught them already, the lack of acknowledgement for gibbs is a little surprising though, he has polled 4 times in 8 rounds in the coaches association votes (richmond, geelong (b.o.g.), adelaide and port adelaide) and would probably have polled internally for the collingwood game as well.

but on exposed form if judd continues the way he is it is a one horse race.
