Sorry I've gone early on this, but I was at the Saints game last night and started thinking ahead to next week.

Ratts and co better have their thinking caps on this week. Freeing up space for the 3 amigos will be tough with the Saints stingy defence, not sure what the answer is there. Obviously fast ball movement will be paramount.

If we play to our strengths and not let them dictate play we can win this, no doubt. They are very ordinary without the Volt.

Bring back Waite

Fast ball movement to break the zone.

I find footy games involving Saints very boring; last night no exception.

I look forward to watching Carlton take the next step from last years game.
Houla shoul've put us in front with 2 mins left on the clock last year; they got out of gaol.

I wish Tex was available.

a game of chances. they have been extrodinarly lucky IMO to get over both the dogs and the saints, both who can blame thier inability to put score board pressure on them that cost them the game.

got to hit them hard, get the score on the board early and open the game up.

they are simply the worst team in the AFL to watch and IMO are poor without revolt, thus why they put 15 defenders behind the ball at all times.

All players should be instructed, if they are in range to take the shot. dont look for another option. if you are in range. take the shot.

It will be a game that is a fine balance between, holding possesion, and taking them on. We must not fear kicking backwards, forget sideways, you need to kick backwards against this mob, to draw them out, draw them out, then take them on. Their entire game place consists of flood, flood, flood, flood, coutner attack.

we have plenty of players that can kick goals on the run from 50m out. this is where the game can be won.

p.s. can someone smash Milne please.

Saints have only kicked 6 and 7 goals in the past 2 games... Funny how I see that being eclipsed in the first qrt next week..

Hopefully it won't be the combined total...

if that defence doesnt tighten up they are going to smash us.

our defence is nothing short of VFL grade.

We kept Geelong under 161, even though we "leak"

that defence is pathetic, I am almost convinced Geelong had an off day.

Any defence looks rubbish when you gift possession in midfield. Having said that, White lets his opponent chop him out in a body contest and roam free all too often. Henderson, for all his efforts, has now completely lost his touch and confidence. Needs a run in the 2s. Jacobs wasn't much of an improvement over Warnock, which I half-expected, but he'll still get another week.

Taking out one tall forward and one tall defender leaves us with limited options at present. Guess who comes back?

In: Waite, Thornton
Out: White, Henderson

You forgot Mclean and Joseph two poor ones in a row for both.

Time to set a standard and drop all four of them.

Davis was destroyed by Joseph. Absolutely.

Tagged him out of the match...but has done nothing in two weeks. Goes hard at the man but not hard enough at the ball...he's played like this two weeks in a row...unless he is instructed not to go hard for the ball then I am mistaken but which coach would instruct his players to play soft at the ball.

Do you wear glasses? Because you are missing more than just stats.

I'd add Hadley/Robinson for McClean.

Our defenders were ok today, midfield defence was non existant. Will get smashed if our midfield let's theirs run around.

Defence was leaking badly no rebound whatsoever.....our midfield got smashed we only had 2-3 players willing to go hard at the ball consistently... bring in Browne and Wiggins and hope for the best.

Mclean shouldnt wear the Navy blue until he sorts him self out - he is playing like a millionaire that just doesnt care..

I'd love to pick Ando, Davies, Okeefe and Ozzie ; the Saints are a mature side and are going to push us aside..we need to put some real grunt in the middle. Or we are going to get flogged by 50 pts again. Browne's third season with 20 games under his belt throw him in the deep end... 21 y.o with a mature'ing body cant do any worse than Mclean.. he is just hopeless.

I have to agree - Wiggins and Browne - PLEASE!! - not up to it and never will be - its that simple... and dont get me started on stop start Thornton - has never used to ball to our advantage....

In Waite - for sure and i'd play White up forward - Hendo might need a rest -

We were smashed by their run from half back and their clearance work in the centre - at one stage it was about 13-2 clearances from the middle - i defy any defence to be able to withstand that type of supply.

what was more disappointing was our midfield allowing their players to get goal side - i reckon ball, williams and beams got soft and easy goals because their mid opponents didnt work hard enough
