So many positives. The forward line structure worked so well! The three amigos really set us alight. I thought the midfield was very effective -- special mention to Scotland, Judd and Simpson who were very classly. Gibbs and Russell were key generals down back. Walker was instrumental before being injured. White also shows continued promise. Ratten won the tactical battle. Couldn't be happier. We really can't relent -- still a very tough road ahead! |

Good running backline set the tone. Has done for 2 weeks. Hope Walker being out doesnt effect that going forward. |

Chris Yarran is going to be a superstar. His kicking creates something out of nothing. Best player by foot in our side. Poise and class. I know how good a player Daniel Rich is but his talents are much more common. Yarran is a RARE talent |

From what I've heard on radio, we didn't have a passenger today. Even Setanta and Hendo (who didn't do much with the ball) worked their arses off to create a contest. Hendo in particular will be a beauty when he can take a contested mark ![]() Great team effort. |

sounds like it is a collarbone for walker. Anything other than a shoulder would be a positive I would suspect. |

Am I crazy in thinking our backline is a much smoother and efficient unit without Thornton? |

So proud of us today-- Really think we do look better without Thornton. Our run out of the back half has won us the past 2 games.. its a real strength and Ratts expoited that beautifully today. Fantastic coaching performance.. Onwards and upwards |

Great 4 quarter effort. The Band of Brothers in the forward line is bringing back memories of the 'Mosquito Fleet'. The backline was very , very good too. Well coached today as well. |

The lack of run and penetration and resulting pressure on the opposition is what most criticisms have been directed at the last few years. Full credit to the Ratts and the MC for a brilliant preparation of the team since the Essendon* disgrace. Super performance by the team this week against a great side in scintillating form. ![]() |

Winners all over the ground. Army - killed byrnes who was bog a couple of weeks ago for the cats with 5? goals and 30 odd touches. Great pace and used it well. Russell - How good is he becoming? Rarely beaten. Very strong both in the air and on the ground. Strong. Becoming a very reliable defender. Murph - Set the scene early and really got us going Yarran - see post above. Absolute silk Gibbs - Best kick at the club along with Yarran. Doesnt just hit a target but creates. Love him setting up play from half back Scotland - Hard at it as always. Simpson - has to be one of our most under rated mids. great run, uses it well, kicks goals. Amazing for his slight frame. Irish - presented well, made a contest and took a few good marks. Will continue to improve. Walker - picked up where he left off last week, ran off Hawkins and really made him a liability. Hit targets!! Hope the injuries not too bad ![]() Lucas - ![]() ![]() Judd - God. Kicking a little rusty sometimes but only his second game and still God. Warnock - Chase on Wojak in the second or third put him under the pump and caused a turnover. Great effort. Krooooooz - same as always, another rover really. Ability below his knees still amazes me. Took some good grabs up forward to which was good to see. I hope this becomes a bigger part of his game over time. The brothers - such as exciting forward line. So quick and mobile. Really seem to have a great understanding of each other too. And the rest.. And most of all Brett Ratten - Copped it from all corners after the loss to Essendon*. Made some big calls dropping Waite and Thornton. Has gone for run over height in a couple of games where the opposition has had plenty of talls and, well, its paying off. Many thought we were too short going into this game and Waite had to come back but you stuck to your guns. Congats Brett, you deserve it. |
