Hoping he might get picked up like Stewie Dew? He probably weighs about the same now. ![]() |

You'd think that no club would take him if it voided their insurance policy. |

If I remember correctly, Nick Stevens mentioned that he is still hungry for a premiership. The year after he left the Port Power they won a flag and that it's still burning. He said, if the doctors clear him to play he would only consider going to a club that would look like winning a premiership in the very near future. The only club that would probably recruit him would be Brisbane, but I reckon he has missed the boat there. Nick, stay retired and enjoy life !!!!! |

I would suggest that StKilda who lost Lovett would be very interested and Collingwood which is the club he wanted to go too in the first place (Micks final year as coach). I would suggest that as the time gets closer to making a decision that clubs will influence him to nominate if he has the medical clearance. |

I know its often said by senior players looking to move but its so unsavoury for mine: "I only want to play in a team likely to win a Premiership". narcissist. What a crock. With Dew, it was the other way around - Hawthorn saw him as a chance to elevate them to a Premiership which Dew certainly would not have been expecting at that time. Ditto Tim Watson in 1993. Bucks left Brisbane to play in a Premiership. Ditto Nathan Brown, Stevens wanted to go to Collingwood for that reason but missed out on Port's premiership. Come to a club to help the club and the thrill of playing AFL level football. Not b/c you want a piece of Silverware. Its a cliche that players play "to win premierships" but that's a crock of shit in my opinion - players don't start playing and following their clubs as juniors to win premierships. you want to win once you are playing. you don't play for that reason. will mark athorn ever be considered a better player than buckley? He should have said he wanted to come back and play at the highest level. Whoever would take him. He can have his own private thoughts but in my opinion, he lost value with that comment. |

Apparently he is willing to sign for minimum wage. Six pies and a six pack per day. I don't think that even Collingwood or Brisbane would be stupid enough to sign him. Nick was a good servant of our club and retired at the right time. For his own good he should leave it at that. |

Captain Dan wrote: Stuart Dew was a porker but he did wonders for the Hawks. ..and looking at their 09 and 10 seasons so far, it seems both Dew and the Hawks had a very good year [rarity type of good].. ..i reckon players and clubs should look more to the times it hasn't worked, rather than the few, few times it has.. ..plus, as much as i liked Stevo, he had trouble keeping super fit at a club, how's he gonna stay fit away from one..?.. |
