Yes, that we have a very young and inexperienced team overall.

Does it tell us the MC maybe realise that some of the regular players in the team are not going to take us to Premiership glory, and there's a need therefore to blood some more young talent as soon as possible?

No? Just about every team in the comp has had two debutants... it's called turnover.

Lucas and White are probably the obvious ones? Davies is probably next but White has jumped ahead of him. Tiller and Kerr are way off and O'Keefe has been injured and will need time.

We have 9 guys with over one hundred games and none with over 200. We are inexperienced and need games into our kids. Good teams debut players when they earn it.

Yeah,

It tells me that we have obviously lost 2 senior certain top 22 starters! Fev and Stevens.

I have no problem with this.

Lucas looks good.

I thought we had four debutants in round 1 last year.
Joseph and Robinson come to mind, can't remember the other two.

Be it simply turnover that all clubs do or something more strategic, I posted a thread early this week that focussed on looking at our list and how there are limitations on the list and how in a few years if we get rid of these limitations we are actually left with a very young side and a side thin on midfield talent.

Maybe the club are aware too that there are players that need to be shipped off and good kids blooded...

Agree. Hasn't Geelong had a debutant or 2

I thought this thread was going to be bemoaning the fact we'd only had 2 debutants and asking for more.

I am glad we are blooding new players but does indicate that season hasnt started as at all planned
Whether you agree with this weeks axings not sure when we began planning in January for matches in March/April that we thought we would go into a match without all of thorton waite bower and austin in the back half - shows our depth I suppose if we win tomorrow BUT also indicates that the best laid plans can go awry

Also although I like the combo of gartlett betts and yarran I am not sure that is the strong preference of the match committee given tomorrow is the first time they have all played together once again this has been forced on us rather than planned

Arguably out of our best side before the season starts we go into the game without thorton bower maclean waite

....who have both done really well and acclimatised at a great rate of knots, suggesting to me that both are in or near the Best 22. Good reason to promote them - they're good!

Lucas has been DAMN GOOD in his 2 games, and White was servicable and a result of sending a message to our squad (play to you ability of get dropped) and did a good job when he came in ................

Also suggests that we have some injuries in the backline (Bower, Austin) so we had to promote a mature aged recruit to fill a void ..............

I wouldn't read ANYTHING into it.

Important for Premiers to blood youth bec if they don't they will suffer a huge vaccuum in a few years when all their list is old.

Also, top teams like Cats are able to blood youth and not lose games, bec the 90% of the team that is talented and experienced get them across the line

Good to see Blues blood kids constantly, tells me they know they need to improve further still

hmm you do realise its not 2003?

Now is the time to win and only blood youngsters if they deserve it. It just so happens there have only been 2 thus far.
