Following on from the Pros and Cons thread.

I don't think Waite should be suspended for it, a reprimand would even be over the top IMO.

Oh ok, I’ll get back in my box now. But clenched fist + direct contact to the face = gone imo. But hey I was wrong about it not being raised as a con previously so hopefully im wrong again!

Clenched fist to the face yes, but it was incidental contact given that Waite was grappling with another Richmond player and couldn't even see the bloke he whacked.

My defence would be: "I was throwing my arms about in an effort to break free as I was struggling to breathe from the headlock I was put in"

Exactly. He had absolutely no idea he was there. However, the points system has me worried and this case will be another point where it doesn't work for all offences.

I'm tipping he'll get carry over points because it was high and low impact. Does unintentional lesson the crime? who knows.

I reckon it'll either be:

Conduct - Negligent
Impact - Low
Contact - High
= Level 1
Which for striking means 80 points; thus a reprimand.

Or:

Conduct - Reckless
Impact - Low
Contact - High
= Level 2
Which for striking means 125 points; thus a 1 match suspension.

I don't know if Waite will get any discount for good behaviour.

Taking into account a 25% discount for an early guilty plea, and he'd only get a reprimand.

One of those "who the @#$%&! knows" cases IMHO. Could go either way.

Does he have any carry over points.

Anyone know how many matches Waite has been suspended for over the last three years?

Because that could add a loading of anywhere between 10% - 50%.

If one gets done for that there is something extremely wrong with the system.

IIRC Waite got suspended 2 years ago against Freo (the game where Pfiefer kicked the winning goal).

There was no intent to hit and you can see by his reaction (with his hand) that he actually hit someone.

Like every other case that goes before the MRP

Going by Fanfooty he will have a loading of 10% on any penalty but his 73.75 carryover points were from Round 9 2008, and they expire after a year don't they? So he should only have the 10% loading

He would've known that throwing one was likely to connect but, with his head down, it could just as easily been Warnock's chest instead of the Richmond player's chin.

He won't miss a game, but he should have the points carry over.... An excellent result if nothing comes of it.

I think common sense will be applied.

This is correct.

So if negligent 80 points + 10% loading for previous suspension (80+8=88) - 25% for early guilty plea (88-22=66) = reprimand with 66 carryover points.

If reckless 125 points + 10% loading for previous suspension (125+12.5=137.5) - 25% for early guilty plea (137.5-34.375=103.125) = 1 match suspension with 3.125 carryover points.
