How exciting is it to watch the style of play we are executing this year! I was talking about it with a couple of mates last night that totally agreed. It’s just so much different from 2 years ago (that stop-start, defensive, chip side-ways, indirect style of play – remember R22 against the Kangas?). I know there are a number of factors to the reasons why it has changed, such as better skilled recruits, more confidence in each other etc etc. But hell, the way it is being executed it’s just fantastic isn’t it?!!! You’ve just gotta love watching it and watching it with pride and a smile on your face! Quick hands to a running team mate, protection of the ball carrier, kicking to space allowing the leading player to run onto it, long, direct kicking down the corridor. Just great sharing football (plus the great tackling and pressure we are putting the opposition under when they have the ball!!) It’s the footy should be played – right?!! Now I know its only the Wizard Cup - and I’m trying not to get too far ahead of myself - but this style of play added to the “team ethic†|

Totally agree Laguna. The real stand out for me so far is how hard Fev is working to keep the ball in the forward line. He has laid some great tackles already. Just thinking about it now is getting me excited ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The thing I love the most is the way we are attacking the football. Years gone by we had a few of those types now everyone seems intent on killing to gain the ball. We may not have the most skillfull side around but hopefully our attack on the football will more than make up for it. |

Pagan seems to be instilling that Kangaroo/Pagan mentality of ‘never say die’, ‘work your butt off’ to the Blues I have a mate who follows the Kangaroo’s & he took great delight in always getting ‘value for money’. Bring it on |

yeah last week was really pleasing against the dees. great goals. great fluent footy - i agree. Favourite moments: 1) mcgrath's goal last quarter 2) watching the coolness of thornton in defence (much better at chb compared to fullback) 3) all of fev's goals. can't say i like the bulldogs much - i hope we win the upcoming match of course. they did a job on us last year ... time for revenge. |

We are playing a more confident brand of footy. This will grant us more wins, which will grant us more confidence, etc. etc. |

Great thread, Laguna. Couldn't agree more. It's obviously great just to see us genuinely competitive again. But under Pagan, we're not only doing that, we're playing a terrific 'brand' of footy. It's a good brand for September, when we finally get there. But it's also a great brand to watch now. Really hope to see those who play 'ugly' footy struggle: like Port Adelaide, Collingwood, Bulldogs. |

Yes. Good to see Collingwood following our lead again, their just 2-3 years behind us...........chip, chip, side-ways, side-ways, then think music. Bottom 4 for that lot!!! |

What I notice most about our side when compared to others is that when we dish off a handball on the wing, the player receiving is most of the time not under pressure and can in turn hit a target 40m or so away. I've noticed many other teams who dish of the handball and the player receiving is under an immense amount of pressure, leading to a turnover. Its a credit to all the blocking/sheperding work that is carried out at training. |
