Be pretty hard to find an original guernsey. Maybe relatives of a Carlton player of that time would have it passed down through generations. |

About 2 years ago, a guy approached Rick Milne (licensed valuer, particularly of VFL stuff) saying he had a Carlton jumper and two caps - one from 1907 and 1908...Rick told him to insure them immediately, adding that he had about $50k-60k worth of memorabilia. So I would contact Rick Milne as he might still have the guys details. Also try Charles Leski...he gets plenty of Carlton memorabilia - however I'm not sure he's had a pre-1909 jumper go to auction. Best to give him a call and find out - if he has, he'd be able to give the club the details of the purchaser and see if they wanted to donate it to the club for exhibition purposes. |

about 15 years ago I caught the Carlton memorabilia bug, mainly focussed on cigarette and trading cards along with memberships, social club medallions, WEGs and other old-school paraphernalia from 1900-1970s. I got addicted to the chase and picked up some amazing rare cards from the early years of the century. I paid $100+ for the odd special card. Absolutely loved it - to think people were paying big bucks for "limited edition" modern cards when these amazing bits of social history were about. Unfortunately I was young and stupid and flogged most of the good stuff to finance a long overseas trip. I assume it's all worth a fair bit now... I'm totally in favour of the club investing some decent money in creating a real museum at Princes Park. The magic of discovering CFCs great history and imagining footy of the 20s or 40s should be shared with young fans. I remember reading ages ago that a complete set of Carlton memberships were stolen from the club, there was zero security back then - absolute travesty. Time the club took better care of our legacy. ![]() |

I have one of those old mirrors with the 1907 team photo on it. I got it from an opshop about 20 years. Does anybody know how common these are? |

Pretty common...they were produced in the late eighties / early nineties I believe so don't really have any value. Much better off having the original photo of the losing South Melbourne team of 1907. ![]() |

Excellent stuff! 2014, not too far away now. I remember getting a certificate from the club for the 125th anniversary. I wasn't a member back then, but I must have been on some database or other to be acknowledged as a supporter. |

The little people are always forgotten..... ![]() ![]() Seriously, great initiative and about time. If we can find a way to bring something physical out of our historical websites and memories then we'll all be winners. |

SurreyBlue wrote: How the hell did Ian Collins even get a look in at our club again. ![]() Well he is a former player and has good management skills. He would have mixed with past players of the 20's , 30's etc. He has historical knowledge and I don't see why he shouldn't be involved in a Carlton history group. He is not running the club. Ken Hands would have been another who would have been good, but perhaps his age may have prevented him. |

SurreyBlue wrote: How the hell did Ian Collins even get a look in at our club again. ![]() Please rewatch the 1968 finals series for the answer to this question. Please refer to his role as general manager 1982-1993 and president 2003-05.. I think that is a fair legacy to leave at the club. |

Bit off topic but I loved this... Quote: McKay, a four-time premiership player and the only Carlton footballer in history to participate in three Grand final victories over Collingwood....
