Passed away after a long battle with cancer.

A great sportswriter for The Age and a passionate Carlton man

Will be sadly missed

Best wishes to his family

I liked his work, and his surname.

Was a refreshing break from the pomposity of most of our footy scribes

RIP

Loved his team - nice reading how Juddy came to see him. He would have been stoked with that.

RIP and condolences to his family and friends.

He'd write a story and I'd say he didn't get it quite right, and he'd fire back, 'Well if you bloody well told us what was going on there wouldn't be a problem!'

I had the honour of sitting next to him at a game last year. Oustanding gentleman, had some great stories and was a deeply passionate blue. R.I.P.

Vale Geoff McLure.

Great post AndyBlue....thanks for sharing that moment in time.

Obviously chook was loved, respected and always greeted with a smile.

This man must have been remarkable.

I didn't know he was a Bluebagger....I always loved his surname.

Thanks for the good times chook.

Go Blues.

Now lets win a flag for Sir Richard and Chooka...and people like them who have done the club proud.

Very sad news, loved Geoff's work & was not aware he was ill.

First realised he was a Blueboy the Monday after the 99 prelim when his piece was just Carlton through & through. Including a great little snippet about the match against West Coast the week before. Apparently Sheedy had appeared from behind a tree in the MCG car park after the match & made cut throat gestures at a passing Kevin Hall, in reference to them playing us the following week.

(Geoff told the story 100 times better than that)

RIP

Go Blues.

I got a call from Geoff one morning, it was the day after St Paddy's day several years ago and got very lubricatated
at Pugg's before heading off to see the blues win the wizard cup

came decked out in irish flag and popped it over the fence to the irishman who ended up in the paper wearing it

it was (i believe) de bolfo who came to the players race at the dome and called out to get the flag,
and asked for a contact ph number to get it back.

next moring geoff called to get some info, and it was on the back page of the spts section the next day
it was funny the way it was all really hush hush and obviously he was sneaking heaps of positive blues stories into
his back page for years. did a lot of great work for the blues in a hushg hush way and really nice guy

Best wishes to his family.

R.I.P. Geoff McClure.

Getting up each morning for work was made a lot easier reading Geoff's back page column.

Will be sadly missed.

Condolences to family.

RIP Geoff "Chooka" McClure.

Many thanks for keeping the Blues' flame burning, especially during the very bleak years of the '00s......your column was always a pleasure to read. :thanks:

I will never forget your tips.....Carlton by 1.
