I said it in October and I'll say it again, Mclean to Carlton was a terrible move. Our reasoning was that we needed a hard body in the contest to help Judd. This guy is not the inside player we want, if anyone thinks that Brock is a contested ball getter is kidding themselves and not to mention how slow he is. He makes Bentick look like a greyhound and also lacks intensity for someone with a solid frame.
All the talk that he is training the house down, winning time trials means nothing, he was blowing hard early.
I hope he proves me wrong but doubt it very much.

Only time will tell. Personally I think he's worth the trade and that week-in, week-out through the winter of 2010, having experienced hard bodies like his and Hadley's inside "the bubble", as Ratts says far too often, to scrag it out to our quality outside players like Judd, Murph, Gibbsy, Simmo, Houla, AW and Kreuz, is invaluable. Who would you prefer to see in there? Unfortunately we don't have Selwood or Sewell, and until we do, I think we need more of these types, not less - we still looked small compared to the Swans.

well he better improve and i am a fan of this trade. his performance last night was a disgrace. from start to finish.
not shaking his opponents hand because he's focussed is just dumb. and maybe he is just that, dumb. not a good start for brock. he's better than hadley and hadley out performed him by a country mile yesterday. bad bad showing by Brock. fingers crossed.

I was looking forward to his debut last night, that was until 10 minutes into the 1st quarter.

Slow, didnt read the ball well and didnt chase at all.

I thought he was the Dees best player for the last three years. what last night made me realise is that the Dees Best is pretty shit.

I really hope that last night was a hiccup or we have bought a dud.

Stand up Brock, please!

----- SIGH -------

TC has become the gathering place for many of these so called Carlton supporters I can not stand. Those who spend most of the games loudly abusing our players, coaches etc., but when we win they are celebrating as if it came down to their "support". How empty and without perspective are many peoples live. I come here less and less and having a read after last nights pre-season game - well......... :?

Doesnt it take two negatives to get a positive?

I just think that a rolling Brock doesnt gather no moss...

OR

Sticks and stones will break my boness but Brock's will never hurt me.

OR

People in glasshouses shouldnt throw Brocks.

Brock was fantastic in the in and under stakes.
Was able to bottle up the ball when there was no support.
Dished out numerous clearances to Judd and Gibbs throughout the game.
Stuck to his man like glue. Didn't give him a touch.
Must have had 30-40 possessions.
Tough as nails. The opposition trembled when they knew Brock was in their vicinity.
Nearly won the game for us.

Is that what you'd like to read mikkey?

Truth be known, it wasn't the case.
He was ordinary and quite disappointing.
Refused to take a man when they had possession.
Who knows, maybe that was the instruction.

Ask Cazzeman what he thought about Brock's performance.
He'd be more in the know and a better judge of the expectations of Brock in the guts.

who cares???

weve had a decade of darkness... lets not have any expectations right????

just plod along... being average.... its only been 15 years and counting since our last flag.

Actually ... some people have taken up the StKilda loser mentality of the eighties... happy with every tiny glimpse of somethingness... happy with an odd entry into a finals season... the odd player did ok... and there is always next year!!!

It really is time to make a stand today!!!... the line on the sand has got to be drawn and this club cannot afford to just coast along making excuse after excuse after excuse.. exppecting things to get better when the fundamantals are [REDACTED]!!!

Sure its a NAB cupper... win or lose in the NAB cup there has to be an expectation of seeing some of the things practiced during the off season germinate.

Last night was a disgrace on so many levels....

which means its natural for people to come on after everything we have had to endure and vent.. question.. and argue.

You sound happy with nothingness.. good on you... !!!... be happy...

Synbad, how are you mate?
I remember taking the piss out of a Geelong-supporter-mate at the beginning of '07, when they were 2 and 3 and he was talking them up and it was the same-old, same-old, hahahahahha, Geelong.
They've lost about three games since.
I reckon we're about three years from that. But I do think we've got the same core as they had of outrageously talented footballers of the same age all growing up and learning the game together. We've been STUPIDLY young and inexperienced for three years. We're still young, and barely experienced.
We've got Judd, we've lost Stevo and Fev. You know. Be realistic.
2012 we're a real go.

That would be cos in 2012 Ratts and co will be a distant memory.....and we might finally have the pedigree of a coaching group that would have done their time under coaches in the AFL with teams that are cutting edge.. they would have contributed to their respective coaching panels and teams in a very meaningful way.. and theyw ould have earned their right to coach Australias greatest coaching club in their own right.
All retiring footballers worth their salt in future coaching would be dying to get on board with the Carlton Football Club to learn from the best coaches this sport has to offer to enhance their knowledge and creibility as career coaches whether senior or assistant...

But right now... thats a laughable point isnt it???

tomorrow..might be alive maybe maybe not too.. but the chances are pretty strong youll see me tomorrow too...

You cannot do it in this day and age.... without the very best people.

Ratten and Co are not the very best people... anyone thinking theyre the very best coaches is deluding themselves.
Anyone who believes we shouldnt have the very best people is kidding themselves.

Just think about how many coaches in the history of the AFL have failed.. then add to that in this world of standardisation where everything is brought to a common denominator.. how the hell with VERY AVERAGE people in charge does anybody believe were gunna be serious contenders...?????

History will expose mediocrity almost every time.. as will mathematics... so if were hoping on chance... the 5%... were doing it all wrong...!!!

look, synbad, bomber thompson had his fair share of doubters, mate.
as the saying goes, you can't make strawberry jam out of shit (not saying we're shit), no matter how much sugar you put in. you can't just MAKE IT HAPPEN, just because you really, really want it to. Murph's 22, Synbad, and he's the eldest of the kids.
I reckon we're Geelong a la '05.
Do you think Ratts would have won '07 with Geelong's list?

you know, in my previous life i've sat and talked with both of them, and i thought they're pretty similar, to be honest.

Grant Thomas had StKilda too... and didnt win a thing with a pretty good list...
Ross Lyons list isnt as good yet they have shown with a gameplan what can be done.

Just cos Bomba did it.. doesnt mean Ratten can do it....

That argument always makes me cringe....

one guy achieved a powerhouse team after 10 years so someone else might or might not as well...

Daniher had Melb for longer.. and didnt...

Its the GAMEPLAN... Ratten and his staffers have NO CLUE... there is nothing in the way were trying to execute things that gets you to say.... "hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... i see what were trying to do....."... nothing...

Its just a group of players running around trying to get kicks.....

Cant kick out...
cant enter 50 with any purpose...
handball into trouble
blokes that shouldnt be on the end of the ball to distribute it are...
A good midfield on paper losing in the clearances... too often for my liking...
time after time undisciplines crude tackles... or not marking...

Its just the same week in week out.. year in year out...

no ground made up....

AND... im expecting other teams to be flying past us again as we remain stangnant cos we have Juddy.. had Fev.. and 3 #1 picks...and Rattens Carlton swagger.. which he didnt develop.. just found it when he got there...
.. and we didnt have it till George Harris became president.. had a vision and combined with his cunning and his ruthlesness.. (and believe me heads would be rolling left right and centre right now if he wa around as president).. that the swagger was created for others later....
... the swagger came with being beter than everybody else.. not cos of the colour of the jumper... like Ratts and Sticks seem to think.

Its cos of the hard work.. and results by others.. that later players and officials had a swagger.

We have lost it.. and the only way to get it back.. is to be better than everybody else....thats not having a B grade coach cos hes an ex player.. along with a bunch of C grade assistants and staffers.
not being capable of kicking it to advantage
