bullants, werribee and frankston interested.

Quote:
But Bullants coach David Teague said Lovett would be a welcome player at the Bullants if he "was willing to fit into the culture".

"At VFL level, he would be probably be the best player in the VFL,'' said Teague. ''It's getting harder to recruit these older players because money is getting thrown around at local level and the desire to play at this kind of level seems to have decreased from the older players.

"I would talk to the Carlton board if we were going to recruit him but I'd also to talk to our board at Preston before I'd even communicate to anyone concerning Lovett.

"There's a fair bit to go on beforehand but if we all thought it would be the best for our footy club, then we'd get him.''

hopefully the carlton board rejects the possibility of picking him up

I'm glad he's not communicating to anyone concerning Lovett before speaking to the board.

BV is right - fancy saying you aren't communicating to anyone before the board and then going on to talk to The Age about it all.

I can only presume that Teague isn't familiar in dealing with the media and got caught out.

As for Lovett arriving at the Bullants... I'll only start to worry about it if our board gives it the ok. I'd be surprised if they did though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Lovett recruited from the Preston area ? Preston RSL rings a bell.
And did he play at Carlton as a top up player in our 2nds ?
Don't shoot.......... just asking.

We are going to have a pretty good team again this year with a lot of talented kids developing in the Bullants. The last thing we need is someone like Lovett who is known for being a poor trainer and unreliable added to the group.Sends the wrong message IMO.

Just can't understand why Teague would say such a thing. Then again.................... :yikes:

Yep Lovett would be a GREAT role model for our 2 young Aboriginal fella's in Yarran (who has had his own problems) and Garlett, both of which would be spending a fair amount of time in the Bullants again this year.

I hope that we have NO intention on letting the Bullants recruit him.

Appalling from Teague. Absolutely appalling, can only imagine what the female members think because frankly i don't want the scumbag anywhere near our club.

Do we do things like this deliberately or do we just hire people that are DUMB.

When he played at Calton he was a top up player for the seconds which is the VFL team now. At the time he was playing for North Heildeberg in the Diamond Valley Football League. I think he played two games and ironically it was under Ross Lyon.
For what it is worth, if the kid can't be disciplined enough in an AFL environment particularly when he has walked into a new club. He has very little chance of keeping out of trouble in any other environment.

Relax - I guarantee the journo "spun" this. Probably asked him something about if AL would improve the team etc. and then spinning it and jumping to the headline that he would be welcome. Teague clearly said that this would have to be discussed by the boards before saying anything. The journo just construed the "specific" comments from general remarks.
You all know how the media makes a mole hill of nothing and don't care what somebody really said. Ever heard of "taken out of context"?

How many nimrods at the club does he have to cover for...???

Unbelievably bad judgement from Teague!!

It's just laughable...
