Due to no popular demand, here is another set of questions to ponder: 1. What was significant about 1871 for the Carlton Football Club? 2. Before the start of the 1904 season, legendary coach of the future Jack Worrall was sacked by the committee, but later reinstated when the committee was thrown out. What did Jack do to cause his dismissal? 3. Which Carlton player died as a result of tetanus from an injury received in a game against Geelong in 1926? 4. In 1931, Tommy Downs was suspended for kicking a Richmond player until the end of 1932. Carlton wanted to have the tribunal re-open the case, but were advised by their barrister that there was no way to force the VFL to hear the case again. Who was the barrister? 5. Which player was appointed captain of Carlton after only two VFL games, and then went on to lead his team to the premiership that same year? 6. Two Blues celebrated milestones in the 1975 Qualifying Final, one who played his 100th game, and the other, his fiftieth. Who were they? 7. Mario Bortolotto played in a VFL premiership for another club other than Carlton; which team? 8. What premiership did Carlton win in 1980? 9. Which Carlton great presented the Gardiner, Morrish and Coleman medals to the winners in 1991? 10. Amidst the gloom of the last decade, at least we won a couple of pre-season premierships. How much prizemoney did Carlton receive for winning the 2007 NAB Cup? And, what was the bonus if we had won the regular season premiership as well? |

1. We adopted an official uniform of Dark Oxford Blue for all matches. 2. He banked the gate takings from 3 matches into his own account. He wasn't actually 'sacked' as coach - this was accidental as his role as secretary and the voluntary coaching was contingent on the secretary position. 3. Les Witto 4. The 'Kings Counsel', as it was under the reign of George V, was Robert Menzies. 5. Ern Henfry - 2 games played in 1944. 7. Trick Question?? Sandringham (the VFA, now VFL??) |

Fortunately not, although we did have a problem in that area a few decades later. Forgiveness is granted, although I believe a ritual flogging is still mandatory. CK95 administers those punishments. |

The reason is right, although he transferred the funds to the club with his own cheque. The then committee sacked him with a vote of 16-7, but then that committee was thrown out, and Worrall was immediately reinstated. 3. Les Witto Tragically correct. 4. Re: Question 1...we might have won the 'South Yarra Presentation Cup'...although in my humble opinion it is just as significant as Carlton adopting the Navy Blue as it's official uniform for the first time - getting rid of the orange cap and the grey socks and going all Dark Blue. just putting it out there
