I'll say that she's right about Judd needing to show more off field leadership. I think most would agree about it. But what a bullshit article.

The booze cruise really tarnished the game more than "alleged sexual assault, drunken violence and a drug trafficking charge"?? She's on another planet.

What a flowering joke of an article ... to compare what happenned on the booze cruise to more recent, abliet individual episodes is just gutter journalism.

Originally I was not taken in by the idea that the media was out to get us, but having kept my eyes open the last couple of months have read so much tripe that there is no longer any doubt in my mind.

But this article takes the cake for just pure stupidity.

One good thing out of all of this is that it will galvanise the team and had to happen in order to finally get rid of the Fev era culture. I am 100% sure that there is a screw up and your out clause for a number of players now. If they want to be part of something special they will pull their heads in. Otherwise we will trade them to Richmond!

Josh, she does make some good points, but to say its tarnished the game more than various allegations of rape, assault and trafficking of drugs is ridiculous.

The second issue with her article is why now? Has she just got back from her summer break? Even if she has, its all been discussed and the story doesn't need every journo in the country dragging it back up when they return to work. Mike Sheehan from the HUN bought it up last weekend I noticed.

To answer the second question, Goltzenberg mentioned it, the family day is today, she has to try and take some of the gloss from that.

This paragraph pretty much sums up her intentions

He will use more flowery language than Caro and will compare the Carlton football club to Sadaam Hussain and George Bush.


It was bad what happened on the cruise - no excuses - but I am tired of the antics from the media.

I woud say that handcuffing a young man and forcing him to drink is the worst kind of peer pressure,and is a form of abuse and assault..even if not sexual or directly violent.To me it is an incredibly violent act..especially mentally..but it is physical abuse also...because the kid would have been hard put to say NO for so many reasons.....and...that incident definately sickened me..and still does.
That is not to say that I wasn't p*ssed off that the other stories barely got coverage,or that they aren't in at least Hurley's case a lot more serious..
although..to the kid involved...it might have felt every bit as serious,and could have potentially been life damaging.
Who's to say.

I think it is a poor article (drinking worse than drugs or assault or rape?!?!?), but the issues regarding Houlihan's public comments were valid.

His public explanation of events was poor and came across as defensive. I think his point at the time was that Casboult was not "force-fed alcohol" (so the press response was a "beat up") and that he was not the "only" organiser of the event (in other words "it wasn't my fault"). If he can't handle the PR spin, he should have been told to keep his mouth shut.

Wilson seems to have an issue with Carlton not naming who was strapped to Levi, and the obvious implication made in that article is that it was Judd - he is, after all, the focus of her vindictiveness. That makes it an appalling piece of journalism. The players were locked together as part of a bonding ritual, not to drink them stupid as the media implies. I think it was a dumb thing to do, but I bet 15 other clubs do it. Carlton won't name the player linked to Levi as this player will be unfairly flogged in the press for an issue that should already be dead.

JK's point is not invalid, but the timing is suspicious (two months after the event) and Caroline Wilson is simply a bitter old cow who cannot leave her Carlton axe alone.
