Heard something a while back that caught my attention. A caller rang in SEN from memory and noted that there is an incredible resemblence between the Wayne Schwass for Shannon Grant trade that happened about 1998. Schwass had a solid career for the Roos, gave them great service over the years, and was getting on in age. Shannon Grant was fairly new on the AFL scene, and had several years of footy ahead, great footy at that. So, Schwass was able to offer the Swans a few seasons (three or four I think) before retiring in 2002, while Grant stayed at North for about 10 years where his career really flourished, retiring in 2008. What this caller had highlighted seemed quite valid. When you look deeper at our trade, Fevola for Henderson, it seems like the same type of trade on the surface. Fevola is 28 years of age, (Schwass was 30 at the time of trade in 1998), has had a great career with the Blues but is getting on in age. Henderson on the other hand is fairly new, turning 21 years of age this year, the same age as Grant was in 1998. The only difference is that Grant had more experience than Henderson at the time of trade. Thoughts? |

Grant was a big game player ...bit like the dominator (but not as good of course). Would be nice if Hendo could influence big games as well. We'll soon see.... |

Well so far, the trade has almost mirrored the Schwass/Grant trade, let's hope it continues down that path! ![]() |

All they have in common at this stage is that they were both trades. Time will tell on the rest. |

Henderson will win more flags than Grant and Fevola will win as many with Brisbane as Schwass did at the Swans. ![]() |

But that's the thing Jag, a trouble-free Fev was never going to happen. After too many off-field misterbeaners, the club was basically backed into a corner to move him on. Besides, I couldn't see him staying around another 10 years to deliver us a period of sustained success. Immediate success- yes. But sustained over a long period- definitely not. |

Fev = immature, whining, brilliant footballer, but you don't bet the brilliant without the immature and whining ........... |

Question is how do we feel if he turns all that around in Brisbane under Voss and becomes a good citizen as well as a champion footballer?
