Post subject:  Where's the Countdown?

I make it 30 sleeps until the start of our pre-season campaign, and therefore the start of Carlton in another footy year. I know this because every year seemingly our first game is on my wife's birthday and the countdown starts, and 2010 is no different.

So where is the countdown on this place? Most pre-seasons we're bursting at the seams with excitement about the new players and the new season. Are we daunted by the loss of a few key players (both permanently and short-term?) Are we still perturbed by the HUN's campaign against the Blues? Or are we just counting down quietly?

I'm apprehensive about the start fo 2010, as I think it will take some time to get a forward structure working sufficiently well for us to beat some good, solid teams. But im still very excited about footy starting.

How do you feel ? Are you counting down?

I started counting down the day Fev was traded.

Shouldn't over-estimate the loss of Fev. The FD will have had a pre-season to work on structures and we have the talent to kick winning scores so no real excuses...

Looking forward to an intriguing NAB Cup

I don't think I've ever been so anxious for the new season to begin. Just busting with excitement to see how we will fare without Fevola. Very excited to see how our young brigade of players will perform too. Looking forward to the NAB Cup even, just going to the footy in fact, I have really missed it!! When I can, I often go to two games in the one day. Ideally, I go to the neutral game during the day, then to our game, the main event at night. I love doing that.

Molsey, I'm counting.

I'm counting on the bluebaggers coming home with a wet sail and winning the flag.

I'm counting down for the first NAB cup game in Sydney.

I'm counting down for the first round game to see us win without Judd, Waite, Hampson, Austin, Fev, Walker, Houla and Betts...and then watch the baby Bluyes stick it right up everyone with 3 straight wins to show the footy public what we're made of.

I really believe we'll win the first 3 with or without te abovementioned underdone or suspended players.

I can't wait.

I actually happened to look at the AFL website today at their fixture and saw that there are now only 65 days left until round 1.

I was wondering about Hampson not playing round one too Captain Dan?

Onto Molsey's question... yep bring on the season. I really want to smash the Swans in the NAB cup and hit the season with a bit of confidence.

I'm looking forward to seeing McLean, Henderson, Warnock and Lucas running around in the Navy Blue for the first time.
I'm looking forward to a forward line where we don't try to kick it to the one bloke all the time.
I'm looking forward to seeing Yarran really develop and shine.
I'm looking forward to seeing Bryce Gibbs lead a midfield that doesn't have Murphy and Judd in it.
I'm looking forward to seeing Steven Browne get some games.
I'm looking forward to Jordan Russell's continued improvement.
I'm looking forward to Aaron Joseph's tenacity.
And I'm looking forward to seeing who will be this year's Aaron Joseph by playing in the team more often than not when I hadn't expected it (could it be O'Keefe, or Davies, or Lucas, or Kerr, or Ellard, or Cachia, or Dare?)

Bring on season 2010!
