How can we let a preseason go by without a JR thread!?

Have to say, loved the way he started to take the game on during the 2nd half of last season.

Is probably the player I'm most keen to see go on with it this year.

Would be at good odds for the b&f....

A good value bet??

Definitely a good bet for B&F. Finished last year very well, and is well regarded by his teammates and coaching staff. Has polled well before for his 1%ers and what he does off the ball even when he hasn't been at the forefront, so if his form from late 2009 carries over and he improves further, expect his stock to rise again.

(Just hope he continues to remember how sick it made him in the guts when he got dropped last year ;) )

Has really come on in leaps and bounds, particularly in 2009. The whole thing with J.R was to be patient with his development, and from his emergence in 2009, it is apparent that he will continue to further grow and develop as an elite level footballer in the coming seasons. I am looking forward to seeing how he will fare in 2010, and hopefully he can challenge for the best & fairest.

..looks like he belongs, more-so looks like he knows it now too.. ..late season form for me has him locked onto the HBF.. ..stuck to his man, peeled off to be third man up, gave great run and drive from defence.. ..modern HBFer..

For the most part it was a weak draft. Barring injury or a downward curve in his performance graph, he will play 150-200 games for the club and maybe more. That's would you want from a top 10 pick and it will be a damn side better than a lot of others from that draft.

Too many people in general believe a first round pick is a failure if they don't become Judd inside 12 months. Our recent history with first round picks has been very good, we probably need to find (or develop) better returns from our late picks, as we did in the late 90's and early 00's (Hamill, Houlihan and Fisher). Hopefully a few of O'Keeffe, Robinson, Tiller, Anderson, and this year's picks become A-graders. Our recent efforts at the rookie draft (Joseph, Carazzo, Jacobs etc) have been pretty good too.

Don't think there is anywhere you can actually get on for a bet on any club's B&F....if you find anywhere let me know.

Showed improvement in the second half of the year as mentioned. 2010 will be about maintaining that level of improvement and then taking it up a notch. Can't afford to go backwards.

We won't get any better as a team until guys like JR, Grigg, Army, Hammer etc etc get better.

Sorry, can never see JR in a Blues premiership team. As the great Jack Dyer would have said...good ordinary footballer. The instincts just aren't there.

I beg to differ. The instincts are there... confidence in his own ability is what has been lacking. As the great Morpheus once said... "he is beginning to believe".

The last time I remember JR playing was when he played like a top ten pick, no worries about that.

Didn't he have a break out period in the last 12 games, so much so he accelerated to finish in the top ten of our 2009 finals side?

I'm pretty sure that's the word on the streets.

Does anyone else remember the goal he kicked from outside 50 early in the Brisbane final?

First time young Blues facing finals pressure and the ball was bobbing like a hot potato, so many fumbles from both teams and JR just picked it up one grab and went bang.

Someone needs to youtube it if they have the game recorded (don't know why anyone would though)
