Haven't opened the HS site since their paywall went up and I don't miss it.

Same here. I wonder how much their traffic has decreased since introducing the paywall.

I don't know how much the reading traffic has reduced but it sure as hell has filtered out almost all of the semi-literate people who posted the same old daily comments there against every club but their own. I don't miss them at all.

I can't stand the Herald Sun .... propaganda ... bad editing ... stupid stories. The digital signature is just another good reason not to read it.

Aaah but you have TV and radio there and other options that give you your footy fix.
When you're in the footy wilderness, you have to read whatever you can get.
My dad used to subscribe to 'Truth', which if you're too young to remember, was a rag of the first order but had a great sport section in among the nudes and 'heart balm.'

Seems like the new one with anything related to the draw is "Carlton, meanwhile, only has to play Collingwood twice from last season's top four".

The creative work in Heart Balm was always of great interest to a 14 yo

Quote:
Many clubs are sceptical about the Judd deal.

"I think Carlton still ran the risk with Juddy," Nisbett said. "It was a pretty fine line, but in the end Chris wanted to go home and he was looking for the best deal.

"(Manager) Paul (Connors) was always confident with it and pursued the Carlton deal. You get a bit annoyed with that stuff, but it happens. Chris had already informed us he was leaving."

Clubs blown out of the water by the Judd-Visy deal had expected the AFL would knock it on the head or force a portion inside the salary cap.

What about the "James Hird spend 1/2 an afternoon every 2 weeks at JB Were for around $250K per year deal" whilst he was on Essendon*'s List?

Or the MatthewLloyd.com deal which was worth close to if not 6 figures.

Wonder how they got through to the keeper - wasnt because consumer rip-off merchant and hopelessly conflict of interest afflicted "Rotten" Ron Evans was Chairman of the AFL at the time.

Not to mention dodgy land deals at Richmond.

The only thing I'm really interested in anymore is "Wookie-Vision".

Peter Bell to Fremantle about 10 years ago was all sorts of dodgy too.

From memory, the "other" deal involved the easiest law degree obtained outside of the internet and a McDonalds franchise or two also..

Not sure about Bell but Wanganeen apparently got a least 1 McDonalds for his move back to SA.

Curious that of the 80 or so 3rd party deals that the only one they provide details of is the Visy deal.

This despite the fact that some of them are with newspapers and tevision. Surely their sources in the media could provide some details.

Lazy journalism . Make a few phone calls get a quote or two toss in speculation about Juddys deal and hey presto, column inches!!!

Is it getting to a point where we're going to have to pick and chose who we deal with more closely when it comes to releasing news and players for interviews etc?

The club is a natural news generator but certain people in the media are out for blood and will continue to drag the clubs name through mud to get it.

Lets just hope we win this weekend because we know they'll be coming for Ratts as soon as the Judd saga is over.

Couple that with the JC shot and I think we have the makings of a homicidal maniac playing AFL.

Why won't anyone think of the children?
