Headline:
Carlton's thaw on John Elliott

Quote:
Asked if the lunch was part of a push to welcome Mr Elliott back into the Carlton fold, Mr Kernahan said: "That wasn't even discussed. To be honest I've got more pressing problems to worry about."

What a bullshit article by renowned troublemaker journo Michael Warner. Can't believe these guys get paid to write such rubbish.

It was mentioned in the Macquarie radio news too, the media are obsessed with our club.
Soon the pants bomber will have been seen out with a Blue's official/player/etc.
Get a life
How is the Aints new recruit going- any cameras at his home on stakeout??
What penalty did Basher Hurley get from the Bombers?, how about interviewing the cabbie he belted, saying 'he thought he was going to die and how he came her for a better life'.

Until the club starts handling these incidents better.....the media will continue. It looks like we are out of control so they will play on that.

That doesn't excuse the appalling poor journalism on show in this article. No where is it suggested that Elliot has been or will be welcomed back by anyone at Carlton. It's hardly a revelation that he is friendly with Kernahan, that is well known.

Carlton are still copping the H/S stick for the Brownlow thing. It's childish and it is unprofessional. This in no way condones the behaviour of the players, but what they did was probably mirrored by several other clubs over the Christmas period and it doesn't even compare to the Lovett/Hurley stories, which have been criminally underreported in comparison....

Carlton may be welcoming back John Elliot... I can now see why the media ran with Libba's 'feeling' story...

Nothing but net!

If Grant Thomas ate Pressure for breakfast, I wonder what Ian Coutts eats?

We made the finals with Elliott away from the club... pure coincidence sure, but i don't like the man either way.

Go away Elliott. I am hoping the club can move forward without his interference. Sir Kenneth Luke, Ian Rice and other great presidents let the club move forward once they let go of the presidency. Time for Elliott to do the same.

To be honest, as passionate as Elliot is, I don't think the club will welcome him back in the door, nor get together again after he dragged the club through the mud concerning an incident that went on many years ago. Not saying that particular incident shouldn't be dealt with in due course, as it should, but mouth off one too many times and you're out.

I thought Grant Thomas ate cornflakes. Lots and lots of cornflakes.

We just have to keep our noses clean, co-operate and be nice.

Not a bad effort though, considering his media coach:

Did anyone at the lunch notice any puppet-strings coming out of Stick's shoulders?

Current President, lunching with an ex-president and 5 former board members... I wonder what they talked about?

This story might be typical Herald Sun garbage, but it does have a smell of substance about it.

We all know Sticks is struggling and is out of his depth. He was a reluctant president in the first place, but was left holding the bag when the great man died. It is no surprise that he (and others) might turn to a former mentor/friend for advice when things are in crisis. Clearly we need another Richard Pratt rather than another John Elliott to set appropriate future direction. There must be one of a small handful of towering individuals out there who could be transitioned in gradually. We need to head-hunt and ask this person or persons (like Dick was), rather than hoping they'll just ride in on a white horse.

I cringe at the thought of what leadership hole there is at Carlton if Sticks (? and board members) have no one else to ask.

Nothing wrong with having lunch with an old mate, but if some of the (?current or former board) are there too.....

If the H/S do have an issue with Carlton ( and it seems they do ), then i wish the female journo would come forward with details of the "incident" and Fev can be dealt with.
Maybe she has come forward and the AFL dont want one of there biggest draw cards suspended??????

If Elliot is let back into the club in anyway, then the fish head will have to go.

..on the surface, there's nothing wrong with it.... ..the problem is, we all know Stick's is the world's greatest/deepest thinker, coupled with i suspect a trusting nature.... ..if he's having get togethers with an ex-pres and former board members, i can bet you they're not discussing quantum physics, nor exploring their own existential angst.. ..they're talkin' blues, blues, and after dessert.. ..some more blues.. ..Stick's was a figure-head for Pratt, i just hope he's not a figure head now for his lunch mates..

Pratt was always having lunch with the same blokes.

We should all just get on with the football stuff. This off field stuff justs gains momentum from goons like us commenting on them.
