I've had my say in another thread that IMO he is not a leader we need at this time.

A leader demands respect of his peers, Judd clearly doesn't or is it that Judd chooses to lead by getting blotto with the boys? First Crown, Mad Monday and last Sunday, each time Judd has been part of the issues.

If the Club is serious I think they need to review his tenure as Captain.

Why is that Bax? You offer a great opinion on the question asked.

..voted 'no'.. .... ..when we got him, i wasn't keen on him being captain.. ..he didn't want the WC captaincy, and going to a brand new club, to a walk-in captaincy without a single game under the belt for the new club was, in my mind.. ..silly.. ..unfortunately, we didn't have anyone better.. ..2 years later, we still don't.. ..Juddles is, in my opinion, a great player, and in other facets of society could be a good leader.. ..but in AFL, i think he's too reserved.... ..i think he makes for the perfect VC.. ..but for a little while longer he'll lead the club until Murphos is ready..

I've given my opinion. I don't think I need to add to it.

In my opinion Waite should be looked at (Judd aside).

Waite has presence, is big bodied and could fire up and make a statement.

Having said that, sure I would like to see Judd give them more sprays on the field, his on field leadership is what we need.

Who could do the job ? Juddy may end up being the lesser of evils here. Plenty of guys disregard a bosses word at end of year break-ups when on the sauce.

You don't need to be the official captain to show some leadership and get involved in preventing these things.

Hopefully that is happening behind the scenes.

This thread is a disgrace.

It's not Judd's fault!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's the players involved who couldn't exercise self-control.

Yes.

Then we'll get the players to vote for their mates as Judd's replacement. :sly:

Rather than finding a new Captain, the club possibly needs to look at finding a new leadership group.

The Captain is the only leader getting it in the neck.

As an observer, Murphy, Waite, Russell, Kreuzer, Hadley and Jamison appear to be level headed characters.

I'm gutted that a player with Walker's workrate, fitness and injury history would do this.

Waite got a good write up in the Inside Football mag recently. Crackers was doing some charity ride with Schimma and they asked a bunch of clubs to either provide a player or donate and Carlton was the only ones who did, offering up Waite who went along for the ride. He's a good bloke is Waite. Honest player who looked to be on the threshold of elitism before the knee. Bring him ON!

Bit shocked there's actually a thread on this..... I hate to say this but I agree with "17 will be the sweetest". All I ever read is about players (Carazzo, Gibbs, murphy) saying how a new level of professionalism has been brought to the club with Judd - a bit of a joke considering the last few days I admit. Very unprofessional and blah blah blah - I agree. Big whoop.
But so far no Carlton player has raped, murdered anyone or even beaten up an indian taxi driver (that we know of). The club has been on the front foot handing out fines. I honestly hope some of the players are handed 5+ games suspension (Bring a few egos down to earth like Steve Johnson). But inferring Judd is responsible is a joke. Big flower deal the players had a piss up and acted inappropriately, so deal with it. IMHO I understand totally why so many people are angry, but honestly believe its not quite the mountain some people are making out. Judd appears to be a good captain IMHO.

The captaincy does not seem to sit well with Chris Judd. He can do all the on field leadership things with or without the title.

As for those things that require the public face of the club to emerge in the guise of a leader, he is sadly out of his depth as he's shown a few times now - on the Gold Coast, during and after the final in Brisbane, the Fevola debacle and now Boatgate where he seems to have disappeared down a hole.

He is going to continue as a great player for years to come. Removing the captaincy could well enhance that and give us a new direction in leadership as well.

''Boatgate" But no, there are no alternatives to Juddy at present. Lets deal with the those that deserve
it, and not make Juddy the scapegoat.

This is bizarre.

Judd has led by example on and off the field. Just because a couple of peanuts go off the rails, doesn't mean we should be calling for his head.

The benefits of Judd being captain far outweigh any deficiencies.

I agree with 17_will_be_the_sweetest and Jackworrall. It’s unrealistic to expect Judd to have stepped in as a newbie and taken control of the situation from the moment he arrived at the Club.
For eight or nine years the “Fevola crew” has been at times uncontrollable even on-field by the coaching staff. During that time Fevola enjoyed support at Board level and today we are still paying the price for that.
The dynamics of the team are changing dramatically but the process has barely started. The team has been on leave for most of the time since Fevola departed. It has yet to play a match without Fevola.
Meanwhile it seems that the rump of the Fevola crew is trying to flex its muscles but this is its last Hurrah.
Sticks will see to that.
Judd has been working hard to set new standards and new leaders will emerge over time from the likes of O'Hailpin, Henderson, Lucas and others.
Judd has been a newbie and now is his time.
Same for Ratts as coach and Sticks in his still-new role as President.
"Ripeness is all"
There’s no-one within a bull’s roar of Judd for Captain.
I look forward to a great future at Carlton.

Great player, great professional, but to me he took on board the captaincy reluctantly and it shows. His on field leadership is almost non existant however, too many times our players have made dills of themselves on the field and Judd hasnt stepped in to straighten them out.

Give it to Gibbs or Murphy I reckon

Wonderful that some people are blaming Judd for all this- is he supposed to babysit these highly paid players 24/7?
What about the rest of the leadership group or the bosses at the club?
Or what about making the players accountable for themselves or is that too hard?
