We'd heard this story from a couple of rumours / sources so we decided to look into it. the story goes that Parkin asked Greg Sharp to fix up his kitchen, did such a bad job that Parkin wanted him out. Just looking at The Blueseum, with Rick McLean on the home page. It said Rick was with us for 5 years and Richmond for 5. Is that right ? I thought he was only at Punt Rd for 3years. When he left in mid '74 (?) he went to Tassie. I could be wrong, as I frequently am/are.

RODERICK C. "RICKY" McLEAN - Carlton 1966-7 and 1969-71 (ie 66-71 = 6 years but didn't get a senior game in 68) and Richmond 1972-4 and 1976 (ie 4 years). He went to Tassie in '75 to play with Burnie but came back for another injury-riddled year at the Tigers in '76. |

As one of the Blueseum writers id be happy to take leads on some of those footy rumours / stories of old and chase down the players. The guys we've contacted have been very forthcoming and helpful, so if there are any particular stories you'd like looked into please nominate them and we'll try to find out what happened. |

I am not sure of the year but "Woof" Perovic was belted by Robbie Muir of St. Kilda in front of the Gardiner stand where I was. Muir then proceeded to go absolutely ballistic, threw out his mouthguard and looked like he was going to deck the umpire who was reporting him. The umpire's name I forget but he was one of those in your face guys (maybe Ian Robinson?). May have helped being whacked. Even Muir's team mates couldn't control him. He was just storming around in circles for awhile. It was classic stuff. Maybe he and Perovic as ex team mates had a history. |

Muir collected Dennis Collins at Moorabin. He spat the dummy at Umpire Kevin Smith at Visy Park after giving Perovic a clip. |

I'm sure the naming of an award after her was richly justified. It was more that you don't see many trophy names like that anymore. |

Anyone who had been in the Cheer squad during the 60's would have had warm memories of the lady. Unlike today where rather worryingly, "oldies" have invaded the space of kids at the footy, people like Therese adopted more of a supervisory role. watching from afar. |

We've added some more footy folklore to the site, to pull out some of the great stories and footy folklore often discussed. This one relates to the story that Paul Meldrum asked to attend a training session, did so, impressed and was picked up. Molsey, was watching a 1999 game against the Dogs from Ch72. The commentators were raving about Brett Backwell & the comment was made that the previous year he'd been holidaying in Melbourne watching the Blues training - could there have ben something Meldrumish about his recruitment? |
