Great Win by the Blues tonight.
The Forward line is looking better as the weeks go on, 25 marks between Lance and Fev . Fraser and Nick who?

With the inclusion of Kouta and Campo next week the sky is the limit.

PS. Great to be part of the new "Talking Carlton", the banner looks great as does the layout. Thanks for all your tireless work guys.

Hello Hatrick...hello Deano... :D

Was a very good win. Still some sloppy skills but also some lovely bits of play.

Whitnall BOG 2 weeks in a row. :D Bloody fantastic.

The game was very ordinary to watch in the last two quarters so it was great to see our guys steady and take out the win. Lance BOG by a mile, I can't remember the last time I saw him so enthusiastic on the field. Showed great leadership as well. McGrath, Livo, T Bird all did well.

Gee I hope Lance can take this form throughout the season.

Can someone who has seen the game please expand a bit more on Livo's performance.

I can't believe how good Houla's foot-skills are. Every time he's got the ball (up to half time, that's all I've seen so far.), it's either gone straight to the chest of a teammate, or hit the ground, putting his teammate in a position where he can grab it at eye level. He hasn't even looked like making a mistake all game. Just like last week, come to think of it.

Fev's non-mark on three quarter time...

Complete bullshit. The quarter ends when the umpire blows his whistle, not when the siren goes. Should've been a mark. Good on Fev for giving a souvineer to some kid in the crowd.

Good to see you Mrs C and Ryegrass.

Good to see the Blues in the semis.

Not so good to be typing this at 5 in the morning though....

Ahhh football - this is what I remember, that happy feeling tho I must admit I still bear the scars of the last few years... last week I was still convinced we would loose it when there was only 5 minutes left and this week I wasnt feeling much better

Mr Melbelle is bulldog supporter - if we win I'm allowed to talk about the game all I want, If he wins hes allowed to quietly sleep on the couch

Livo worked really hard - as usual he copped the wrong end of the umpiring.

He's certainly stronger, and is now able to hold his spot in the contested marking, however his disposal and decision making still lacks somewhat. I think a lot of that is confidence - he seems to panic a little and either throws the ball onto his boot or handballs erratically - but he's lucky T-Bird is around - always seems to get himself into a spot where he can help livo out.

I reckon livo will go ok - he just needs to keep gaining confidence - this will take some time - I get the impression he's really nervous out there at the moment.

Great win by the Blues even though we competed against 21 men. How deplorable was the interpretation of the rule last night? I counted 9 free kicks to Melbourne in the last quarter straight, we were robbed of 9 extra points, and then they have the cheek to report Fevola.

Any back to the game, when we play Melbourne next, lets allocate at least 6 goals for one of their forwards. Brent Heaver, Neitz, Bruce, Robbo, who is next.

Anyone take any odds on Whitnall for the Brownlow? Fatboy Slim is back in town, and as Quarters said, Carlton would definately ask for a first round pick plus more :D

Livo played a great game, agree with most of your comments except I thought his disposal and confidence was great yesterday. I haven't seen Livo take an overhead mark backing into trafific like he did yesterday. He knows he can play at this level now and that will only be benefically to Carlton. Congratulations to Pagan, is truely a master psychologist as well as master coach.

Hi guys

Thornton was incredibly impressive last night. Cool and always able to get the team out of trouble even when he was put under pressure by a team-mate.

Best thing about Lance & Fev - forget the contested marks inside 50 (although didn't mind them :) ) - it was the tackling, smothering and work ethic to cover so much ground.

Couldn't agree more with anything you said "strangeblue".

Our key positions are starting to take shape and our team is starting to play good footy. I love it.

Now for the umpires... ... seriously lucky I was in the medallion club last night, else.....

They had a very ordinary night didn't they Surrey. What about the weasel boundary umpire who signalled out of bounds when Teague kicked in to Robertson then sniffed the breeze and called play on. Gutless.

Positives for me.

1. I was watching Livo in the one on one duels in particular as Neitz is probablyone of the strongest forwards in the AFL (?B Hall probably no 1). I was impressed with how he held his own not allowing Neitz to get any advantage. Takes arm and leg strenght and positioning. He will develop as he gains confidence shown by him marking a few in the last 1/4

2. Lance Whitnall. Starting to deliver what the 18yo promised

3. Fevola. Playing a smarter team oriented football. Heard from Libba indirectly that Fevola has really responded to Carey

4. Midfield run. I reckon we are better than a lot of teams in leg speed and endurance and catching on the best. Melbourne was one team which always beat us with the run

5.Challenged hard by the Dees and biased umpiring i the last, the boys responded as you would wish

6. Davies, Sporn, Wiggins Houla and others seem to be moving forward in their development at a rapid pace.

7. French done well with the new ruckinng rules against White

There are others but I getting busy at work

Thought we got mauled at the stoppages. Really need some extractors in there. Also thought at times we did not protect the defensive side of the contest - in the last qtr Jamar was allowed to palm the ball to space where Moloney just ran onto the ball unopposed

Really dont like Fev and Lance passing while inside 50...........I thought it would be a team rule that no passing allowed once inside 50.......marks inside 50 are so rare and are not to be wasted

Thought Wiggo was great - took two very courageous marks and in the last qtr made a great hard ball get in the defensive 50

Pace on the wings was good to and Sporny and Bannister did a good job on Bruce.

Just need to work on the stoppages and add another tall up forward

Good point about the stoppages. However that was really one of our strong points last year so I hope that wont be a major concern. Also the "stoppages king" Kouta will hopefully return soon
