Notice in the thread by Groffunger that Gibbs' contract expires in 2010.

I personally would like this contract extended ASAP and see no reason not to.

With Gold Coast on the lookout and cashed up it's better to be safe than sorry in my opinion.

I sure hope we hurry and sign him on a long term contract. No reason why we should not do it now. Not really worried about Gold Coast, but Adelaide will surely be trying all they can to convince him to go there, especially with the new Luke Ball and Collingwood rules.

Last contract we signed him up early in the pre-season, hope we do so now.

I still think that Bryce will take off back to Adelaide eventually. I just hope it happens before free agency really kicks in so we can negotiate a generous trade with one of the SA clubs.
Dangerfield would be a good start...

I can see a Judd-style situation happening where he will tell us that he wants to go home and a suitable deal will be arranged but only when a premiership has been won. I personally don't think he will leave until a premiership is won. Once that's won, fair enough if he wants to go, we will get a fair deal. Judd ensured that WCE were reasonably compensated, I see similar depth of character in Bryce.

I was speaking to a hot shot Adelaide lawyer mid year, yeah I am a lawyer too, sorry. They are still really upset that we got Gibbsy in the first place. Something about his dad playing 98 games for Glenelg. I reckon they will do everything they can to get him back over there. Although why you would want to live in Adelaide beats me.

Maybe that's why their stocking up on talls? He would complement their mid field beautifully. Bastards.

Gibbs has very close ties to our club through his father and Kernahan. His long-term girlfriend recently moved to Melbourne because he is settled here now.

While I'm sure Adelaide would love to have him, it's very unlikely there's a go home factor.

Gold Coast will undoubtedly make a play for him, but given the character he's shown thus far and the fact we have plenty of salary cap room, I don't think he'll be leaving anytime soon.

Perhaps it's worth remembering the occasions Bryce has broached this subject himself by saying he wants to be a one club player.

I recall him having said it a couple times.

Ross Gibbs played a magnificent 253 games for the Glenelg Football Club. More importantly he played his 200th AFTER the Crows were admitted to the AFL thus allowing Carlton to pick up Bryce, and watching the fruit tingle supporters grind their teeth that they missed out.

Mr Cool & Sticks are real good mates, and I know for a fact that Bryce has said he'd take a paycut if it meant he could play along side Juddy.

The Gibbs family are loyal, and Ross has stated that Bryce would be a one club man. Can't see that changing no matter what the tingles throw at him (his old man would kill him if he played for Port).

I'd love to Bryce play a season or two back at the Bays once his AFL is over.

Kruezer's contract expires next year too.

I can see that going well for Gold Coast, and wish them luck in their recruitment process.

GC: "So, Kreuze, are you happy at Carlton?"
Kreuzer: "..."
GC: "I see. Well. Have you considered maybe playing for us?"
Kreuzer: "..."
GC: "Is that a yes, or a no?"

GC: "Ok, let's target someone else."

That was my impression of the family after bryce was drafted. old fashioned footy family that doesnt walk out on a club or mates. I think haveing Sticks at the club is a big bonus from that point of view. I get the impression that old man Gibbs wouldn't be able to look his mate in the eye if Bryce went back home.
