Okay...

Its round 1...At the G....Siren sounds...Ump bounces the ball...Who do you see in our goal square?

Id like to see Setanta given the gig!

Has shown enough to suggest that this is his time to shine.

Who would be your choice?

Setanta OR Tex.
Different types but if Setanta can hold his marks, he is a great kick for goal.
If Tex goes there and is given permission to fly for marks, we may have reason to come to our feet a couple of times a match.

Possibly depends on the fitness and form of Warnock, and what kind of role the match committee wants this goalsquare key forward to play.

We've certainly got no shortage of big bodies we can stick there. We've also got a couple of more agile taller players if that's the way we go. Probably lack the hard-leading forward, which was Fev's specialty.

What I HOPE to see is a forward line structure that doesn't so much depend on individual talent for individual roles, but one that allows us to rotate different players through roles as they're available. Should be a lot of variety through the F50 this year. Let's hope the team adjusts to life post-Fev pretty quickly.

At least we should have the flexibility to play horses for courses, and cause mismatches against certain opponents, and play to conditions. We've got big tall buggers all with decent mobility (Warnock, Hammer, Kruezer), tall agile buggers (Setanta, Waite), short quick agile buggers (Betts, Garlett), medium sized agile buggers (Walker, Yarran), a classic mobile CHF (Henderson) and a mid-sized ranga nutcase (Mitch) to use in there. Murph would, IMO, make an excellent small forward, but he's needed onball.

Could be interesting.

If Walker is not played off the back flank to mirror Wanganeen it would be a big mistake. So many similarities to Wanganeen's game it just aint funny. He can kick goals but he's no forward. I'd simply love to see him win a brownlow from there...

We have three quality defensive talls, and more sitting out of the side. While he has some explosive attributes, he might be a bit bulky to line up as a medium defender these days.

I'll certainly wait and see, but it would be safe to assume he is a candidate as a lead option up forward or as a bigger body through midfield.

..depending on the ruck situation, the Krooz shows the best understanding of the FF position.. ..presents well, and has great timing and reach!! when he leads at the ball.. ..and tops it off with a great accurate kick.. ..i think his kicking skills aren't nearly talked about enough....

Maybe I'm a bit rooted from the heat and talking to so many people today, but in my state, before I go to this huge party, this post is a real tickler. Thanks for the giggle BS.

This quote raises the hairs hairs in my nostrils (got none on my back or neck).

It's what I've been dreaming of....because it is what we've actually got in the hand....aint no pipe dreams any more.

Henederson is a classic CHF.

I'm putting a grand on the Blues for the flag....maybe they wont but maybe they will....it's looking good imo and it's my money. Worth a punt

Post subject:  Re: Who?

This is my first post but I have been following the Blues since 1965. Play Mitch Robinson at FF. As a leading forward he will terrify any backman in his path ie he will clear the way for Betts, Garlett, and Yarran. Kreuzer can also drop in the hole and take a few marks.
Or do I sound too much like a coach? And that's something we don't really need while we have Ratts, champion player that he was.
:thanks:
