According to Caro, we'll have a million dollars space in the cap at the end of next season to land a big fish (or two)

This woman gets an idea in her head and reports it as if she's just had a latte with Swann on Lygon.....

Nice of her to let every Footy Manager on the block know we are cashed up. We might need to use it to tie our good uns to long term deals now.

Can't understand the problem with Wilson's item. It's positive, and I can't see where your 'quote' comes from.

Sometimes I understand when people get irritated by a negative article, but the blind hatred everytime Wilson writes a column is occasionally beyond belief.

Pavlich D.O.B is 31 Dec 1981. That means he will turn 29 at the very end of next year. Not sure I would be persuing a guy at 29 but I guess he would have 3 years in him and as a permanent FF he would be very handy.

If the reports are true and we are in a position where we can use our surplus funds to attract a big name player there should be no shortage of players out there to look at. With GC17 coming in many managers have their clients contracts ending at the end of 2010.

Swann said it was a 5 figure payout to Fev's contract ie less than $99,000.

Caro mentions 6 figure sum ie $100,000.

To me that means Caro is being mischievous or Swann lied.

Which is it?

Draft picks will lose trade value next year as the GWS and GC draft concessions will account for most of the top talent.

It will be hard for us to trade for a gun without giving up one of our own talents.

A million bucks means you don't have to trade. Just put a massive price on their head and let them fall through to us via the PSD.

True. Pity Fev couldnt wait until next year to bollix things up . Imagine what GC17 would have given us for him?

Is it legal to offer someone a 1 year/$1mill contract to enter the PSD and then 6 months later re-sign him for 3 years on less money?

You can sign them for whatever terms they agree to straight away but the asking price ie $1mil goes to the salary cap.

Whilst partly true, GC in particular, will need to offer up a few of their high picks because of the fact that they cannot play with a team of boys for 22 weeks, they will get smashed up, particularly by the more physical and thuggish sides.

I think we need to look at what the draft will look like in terms of depth and make a call as to whether a Grigg or similar will be better than a top 10 pick in the 2010 draft. GC will be making offers to clubs rather than the other way around I think. GC knows that it needs seasoned players as well as good kids.

Dont like the sniper because she rarely writes positive articles but this is a very positive article :smoking:

Dont like her but grudgingly respect her on the basis that she does stand up to the bully boys Demetriou and McChins when others wont on political issues

Having said that her lack of understanding of the on field matters after watching AFL FOR SO LONG IS BREATH TAKING

In my view Emma Quayle would buy and sell her on any analytical football basis and if given a chance probably on the footy politics stories as well
