when the Fevola deal was done that we didnt have to pay part of his contract out. This was stated by officials .

Now it has been confirmed by Swann that a figure up to 350000 is to be payed by Carlton next season.

Have I missed something or is it another example of amateur hour at the club and lying to members.

Where is it confirmed that Carlton will pay $350,000?

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/b ... 5793182134

CARLTON'S stormy relationship with Brendan Fevola will continue for another year, with the club admitting to paying SOME of his 2010 salary despite off-loading him to the Brisbane Lions.

Fevola signed a three-year deal to join the Lions, believed to be more than $700,000 a season.

"It's a very small portion of his wage, let's leave it at that. It's not half, that's for sure," Blues CEO Greg Swann said.

The exact figure remains confidential, but is understood to be a five-figure sum.

Definitely not 350k. But it's a good question for the AGM Keogh...not too sure you'll get an answer though.

Shelling out a '5 figure sum' is a small price to pay IMO. Definately not $350k.
Prob closer to $50-$70k.

Well, its under $100k by the sounds of it which is a fantastic result AFAIC

The club always indicated they were happy to pay part of his salary if the trade was fair and the brions, to their credit, were serious in their dealings

Club never stated they were not paying a part of his salary. That article is a joke. Just a writer trying to start a fire so he can write a few more articles about how upset the Carlton cheer squad are that Fev has gone. Stole two lines of Swann that were taken from another source. Tells us nothing we didnt know already.

Whatever we do pay is better than paying his full salary while he continued to disrupt the club.

Fev will more than likely come out this year and kick 8 against us and the papers will go on about how we are paying him but we will have to take that on the chin knowing that come 2012 we will be right up there in the mix and by then we will be playing against the Bears with Black Fev and Brown all struggling along battling age.

Go Blues !

Fev antics last straw for Blues

Quote:
He confirmed that the Blues would contribute part of Fevola's salary over the next two years at Brisbane Lions, believed to be in the range of $700,000, to complete the deal. Kernahan would not say what portion of this figure would be paid by Carlton, but added that it was ''a substantial amount of money''.

Kernahan sad to say goodbye to Fev

Quote:
Fevola, 28, is one year into a heavily back-ended three-year contract which is thought to be worth up to $2 million and Kernahan admitted the Blues would be footing the bill for an unspecified portion of it.

"That's been looked after reasonably well," he said.

"That's a private deal between the clubs and we're happy with the outcome of that. It was pretty important in the deal to get that right too. It is a substantial amount of money."

Looks like you missed something Keogh. You are very negative towards Carlton Keogh. It feels like you want bad stuff to happen so you can prove your amatuer hour theory.

Enjoy your footy. Its so much more fun that way.

It is over two years, and likely upwards of $50,000.

$100,000 is nothing to be sneezed at; I can understand Sticks describing it as such.

If it was around the $100K mark for the next 2 years, I'd be ecstatic.

Remember that it was back ended contract and his payments were eligible under the veterans allowance (50% counted in the salary cap), so it was always going to be a figure other clubs couldn't afford.

This way it's a win-win-win for the 3 parties. I'm ecstatic to get Henderson moreso, but really excited we have pick 12 in this year's draft too. I think we did quite well given the circumstances.

2012 is not too far away and we are coming as we speak....watch out Lions with or without Fev, Brown & Black...your window is ajar, but it's closing as those 3 age, whilst ours continues to blossum.

Should have a rule in place for circumstance like this, similar to the "loan" rule in the EPL, where if a player is loaned or in this case receiving wages from their original club, they can't play against them until the "loan" or wages are paid or traded in full.

I missed nothing unless someone was misquoted three weeks ago. I enjoy my footy and I love it that posters like you have you all summed up after a few posts. perhaps we should meet up and have a beer and you would see how positive a fellow I am. A few people who have met me were suprised. I enjoy I good win us much as anyone.

Nothing wrong in bringing it up and the club should tell the members of which i am one how much we have to pay Fevola.

I just dont like being lied to

Fair enough but from the word go i thought it was clear we were going to be paying some of fevs wage. Noone was going to pay the full backloaded contract and trade for the damaged goods that fev is. I never heard or read a quote saying otherwise and i read plenty that said we would.

Maybe your posting persona comes across as someone always trying to catch out the club.

Meet you at Meredith if you want.

Are you going to enlighten us on where you got this 350k figure from?

.... ..now, this is a question that's about this, but not directly related to Keogh's opening post.. ..but, the brions and Fev have a new contract, for 3 years.. ..wouldn't a new contract with a new employer mean the previous employer's contract has been scrapped..?.. ..how's it work?, is he gettin' the brion's contract, plus a little extra from us as well..???..
