Now lets see:

Hawthorn - just announces its new development at Waverley. The AFL and state government to chip in.
Geelong - nice new stand with financial assistance from the local and state governments, AFL and a banks generosity
Western Bulldogs - Their redevelopment is to go ahead. Local and Federal governments chipping in with the AFL's blessing
Richmond - I believe have redeveloped their training facilities with the AFL's assistance (not sure if they received any from the local or state governments)

Carlton - no financial assistance from any form of government or the AFL at this stage. Only rhetoric about what could be. The Kangaroos and Demons have chosen to go their own way and l bet will get their projects off the ground way before we do.

Like many things Carlton these days - taking far too long for improvement and I'm getting way too impatient!

yet - another example that there are sets of rules for the AFL and then a whole new set of rules for those that are involved with the Carlton Football Club.

It seems one of the carrots that was dangled infront of us about leaving OO (the AFL wont help if we dont leave) has turned out to be a flower joke.

Somewhat like the AFL's stance of the MCG and the Preliminary Finals.

So here we are several months after the fact.

We have given up our great home that was OO.
We are getting nothing from the AFL for anything, no help inregards the redevelopment of OO, nothing.
We are getting screwed over yet again with what appears the AFL and MCC coming to an agreement which whill see Collingfilth playing the vastmajority of their games at the MCG (something that Carlton was trying to do)

Suddenly the benefits of moving are little compared to what was promised/proposed.

We are getting close to more members than ever, and the move will play its part in that, but for me, the success of the Wizzer Cup and us winning 10 games last year, have impacted more on our membership totals this year that the move.

Considering everything 6 months on i still dont think the club got the best deal for the move.

Its simple really

We gave up so much to move, yet got very little in return, but that is the way the AFL wanted it i suppose.

In all honesty - if collingwood do get the MCG deal that carlton proposed last year, but was flately dimissed due to "scheduling constraints" it will yet be another nail in the coffin that is the AFL.

And the saddening thing, is the AFL thinks it is in a very healthy position :( IMO they are closer to complete devastation than they ever have been. Hell, i rarely watch other games these days as there is no interest for me, beyond Carlton.

malouf made some noises on sen last week re the ground re-development.

said that the best bits of the stands would be retained and re-developed while the rest de-commissioned (= pulled down).

looks like we're gonna spend 12 months or sommat on a study and take it from there.

don't know if any of this has appeared in any of those emails the club sends its members, but if it hasn't then i would say the club should tell us all the plan.

The thing which bewilders me is:

The AFL, to help with logistics, TV, etc, rationalises all the grounds, so that 9.5 Victorian clubs play at 2 grounds.

Yet, the AFL loves the idea of every individual club developing 9 sets of identical training environments across the city, rather than assist building 3 sets of facilities which each club has a part share in.

You could have Carlton, North, Bulldogs at PP; Collingwood, Melbourne and St Kilda at MCG/Olympic park; and Hawthorn, Essendon* and Richmond at Waverley/ Windy hill.

That way, you also get the "richer" clubs sharing the load with "poorer" ones.

Well with 600 odd TC members here with most I'd say members of CFC I reckon it's not too must to ask of Malouf to occasionally drop in here and maybe answer a few SENSIBLE questions every now and then.

patience everyone. Malouf is very well connected and the redevelopment will happen soon.

The AFL & Vic Govt will announce something around the next budget which will help all Clubs. CFC will gt its fair share.

The AFL have been clear in the last week or so about thier desire to have a extra team in Qld and NSW, and that can only be done through relocations or merges............I am thinking that we might be on the list.

Mmm so will they give us the 8 million a year they are spending in Sydney?

BM as for the ground, I've said it before (to you at PP) they should tear down all the fences and give it back to the council and residents....they've been bitching about it so long I'm sure they'll do a much better job of running it. All of our resources should go into the training...not the facility......NOT unlike what's happened with VFLpark and Hawthorn.

i think that's what malouf was alluding to on SEN.

whatever current structures can be used or incorporated into the designs for our training/admin/social/merchandising facilities will be kept.

the rest of the stands will come a-tumbling down.

Yeah not a bad idea, Hawthorn's set up out at VFL Park is pretty impressive.

The demolition of the legends stand should be a public event, all members should be invited and have 10 minutes each to belt the crap out of it with a sledgehammer or knock a wrecking ball into it.

Have some reliable sources suggesting that saturday may not have been the last match at PP and dont be surprised if a couple are scheduled there at the time of Cth Games and ! - so dont think redevelopment will occur until then
Carlton know that this may be the case but were happy to have build up and sell out the other week

Frank, it's always been known that OO may be needed for the Commonwelath games...BUT it's also pretty much a given that it won't be a Carlton game ...unless you've heard otherwise?

I thought that Demetripoo was pretty clear that he was going to use the Commonwealth games period to play more games interstate to develop the brand. ie at the Gold Coast, Cairns darwin etc.

That said i would not be unhappy to see Princes Park used again.

Dont think "The Spew" would be generous enough to schedule any Carlton Games at OO during the Commonwealth Games time.

I'll be very pissed off if CFC have deliberately deceived its members for a purely financial gain. It was the end of an era for me and a lot of other supporters that day and to think peoples emotions were used on a false pretence to collect a "healthy payday"...that would leave a very sour taste.
I want to trust my club.
