I can't find the web link, and I'm not sure if it's been posted elsewhere, but on pg 12 of The Age's sports section today, Geoff McClure writes:
'Fair to say Channel Nine didn't win too many fans at Visy Park on Friday night when sports reporter Tony Jones hopped into Carlton for its handling of Fevola's alleged Brownlow night sexual misconduct involving a female newspaper reporter. Jones ended the item, the lead to its news service, by saying because it had not investigated the matter "Carlton looks to be the big loser in this, losing a Coleman medallist - and respect". That's a bit rich, coming from Nine, was the general view from Visy Park, given that the Blues have booted Fevola out of the club, while Nine still has him on its payroll despite being the same network that gave him The Footy Show microphone on Brownlow night.' I've already posted in the thread about Sticks' media conference my thoughts regarding Jones' conduct on Friday. For what it's worth, please allow me to now share with you my simple personal protest against Tony Jones and the Channel 9 news service -
I will not watch the Channel 9 news again until Carlton wins its next premiership.
There. I said it.
A few friends of mine are going to do the same (one of whom isn't even a Carlton supporter!) and we don't care how long it takes (although I'm sure we all hope it's not too far away...except for maybe the non-Carlton supporter

), but we've simply had enough of Channel 9 "news".
Losing one viewer, or a few viewers, will probably make no difference to Channel 9 and their sponsers, but I think it's the only way individuals can protest these things - by simply switching off.
Forget what Timothy Leary said - the answer is to Turn OFF!!
We could write letters to Channel 9 saying how we believe Jones' "reporting" of the news on Friday was the most agenda-driven, two-faced, biased, conceited disgrace we've ever had the misfortune to view....but we'd be wasting our time.
I'm simply turning Channel 9 news off.
Or rather, I'm switching over to one of their competitors...
Thanks for letting me share that with you.
