Please everyone take a shot how bloody maudlin is this site - playing for picks/not playing for picks - whose going to get the chop- no good young players- shocking leaders /down hill skiers /trade fevola - its only the 11th round - we play on saturday at our new home ground - have a definite chance of winning Im going saturday to cheer on our young team and will be barracking for all who play for my team even if they are not super talented but particularly my boy livo carrazzo thorton waite betts bentick wiggins de luca walker and any other young player they put in the team Will be loving the work of hollywood fevola - one of our genuine superstars and a flawed and enigmatic genius - reminds me of brent crosswell when he played. Looking forward to seeing livo or thorton taking on one of the best in barry hall Looking forward to seeing whether pago gives eddie or carrazzo some time in the middle Wondering if prenda will get the job on goodes All that and more and we might even win ![]() |

just on the Caffeine thing. Wasn't it reported there were a few clubs that weren't using it? Please tell me we ARE one of the ones who don't. I'd hate to think this is where we are with performance enhancing drugs ![]() |

Love ya Frank. ![]() The problem with us playing so crap and sitting on 2.5 games for the optimists is that we want to win games. I'll always go into the next round wanting to win. It's knowing that winning too many won't help us come draft time. But...I WILL STILL GO TO THE GAME WANTING TO WIN! |

Can you feel the vibe folks??? All this talk about our disappointing season - a drop off in membership negative negative negative!!! It is all bullshit. We have had 3 seasons of crap and mediocrity and yet our member numbers are at an all time high. So what if we finish in the bottom 3 this year, so what if we finish bottom. I can feel the positivity about our future. The AFL Football season is no longer just about: - The Pre-Season Cup - 22 Home and away games - Final Series - Grand Final There is a now a Post Season which includes: - a Trading Period - National Draft - Pre-Season Draft You will feel the positiveness, you will feel the buzz when we get a couple of the best youngsters going around, snag a decent uncontracted player - maybe snag an early pick with a trade. This will also translate into positive news for the club, translate into members for the club. Wooden spoons dont mean squat anymore - pfft, wooden spoon. In the old days wooden spoons were things of shame - because each club got fistfuls of "Form Fours" to use - so a wooden spoon meant you couldnt or didnt attract the right players. If our membership falls next year on the back of a few early draft picks I will be very surprised. C'mon!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

I agree with most of what you say, Agro, but there is a flaw in that argument: For a huge amount of the purported more than half a MILLION people who call Carlton their team, all that counts is the 22 rounds of h/a, and the finals. Preseason cup? Meh, it doesn't matter. Trade? Whatever, I'd rather watch paint dry. Not everyone cares to examine the minutiae of Club life like a lot of TC inhabitants... |

AGRO, you are talking in absolutes, you promise the world. That to me is always dangerous talk. There are dozens of factors that contribute towards a club pushing for premierships. This fever of focussing on one or two aspects is an unhealthy obsession. Our football club should be working on all of the factors which lead to the next premiership. Would hate to see us take our eyes off the ball while being blinded by the light glinting of the false idols we worship. |

Might need a dose of caffeine to keep awake the way Sydney has been playing, and with Denis going the flood to keep the damage down. Every supporter site needs a Frank Dardew to keep the energy levels up and give life to next weeks game. I'm not in the tanking team so I hope Livo and co have blinders and we can get some of our kids cemented in as regulars. We really need a Bentick or someone to do a Sam Mitchell and get the footy 30 plus times and tell us he has arrived just to give us armchair critics a lift in morale. However after saying all that I am a realist and we need more than loyal supporters like Frank to get a flag winning team together and the neccessary evil that is early draft picks is looming large... |
