Greg Swann just spoke with Kevin Bartlett a few minutes ago... Swann on Fev, Henderson, trade week and that Pavlich rumour Fevola trade (started playing some of Fevola's 3AW interview - see TalkingAFL) - Few twists and turns, as Brendan said it was a win/win, worked out okay - Rischi never keen, girlfriend from Qld, yada, yada - Bradshaw keen, but 4 kids, difficult to move, probably all happened a bit too quick for him - Henderson good, KPP, couldn’t get a game, for us he is exactly what we need - Add the 1st round pick, it was a good deal - Spoke to Collingwood who said we wouldn’t trade any young players and no picks of value available - They didn't off anything decent, not that we wouldn’t deal with them - “We weren’t going to give him away for nothing” - Brisbane were genuine and offered the only reasonable trade - People did speak to Fev early in the night asking him to settle down (eg. Sticks), the worst of it happened after the admin/coach had gone home - Didn’t know about any troubles until 2pm the next day after receiving a call from Crown Security - After Swann, Sticks, Ratts had left Alex and a few guys did ask Fev to quieten down, but he wasn’t listening Lachlan Henderson - Henderson keen, knew he would be further down the pecking order if Fev arrived - Hendo’s manager Ricky Nixon spoke to Gubby Allen and it all went from there (camelboy - I understand we first asked about Henderson on Monday of trade week) Trade week - On trading, have to be fair both ways while trying to get the best deal for your club (some clubs don't get this) - Trading is becoming more open and transparent - Right at the start of the week clubs are pretty open communicating who is up for trade - Thinks clubs should be able to trade future draft picks Pavlich - Pavlich rumour completely false - Dunno where that’s come from, never spoke to Freo and Pav was never going anywhere Lloyd - Matthew Lloyd, never thought about approaching him, reckons he won’t change his mind on retirement, so never gave it any thought - Probably wouldn't be interested anyway - We have an opportunity to reinvent our forwardline – Waite, Krooz, Hammer, little guys, Henderson - Wants to use the players we have and give ourselves a new look Pre-season draft - Expects to use a selection in the PSD - Luke Ball not on radar, doesn’t expect him to make it to us, so not worrying about him |

Great summary, I heard the interview and I dont think you missed anything. Just one thing I picked up on, when talking about our forward structure he never mentioned Fisher or Cloke. He said we would use the players we already have but no mention of these two. |

From sportsentral.......... Carlton chief executive Greg Swann insists the Blues could not trade Brendan Fevola to Collingwood because the Magpies had nothing to offer. Fevola has since indicated Collingwood was his club of choice, after the Blues announced their intention to trade the controversial forward. But Swann has told SEN's Kevin Bartlett the Pies had other priorities. "I think it was more they wouldn't put anything up on the table," Swann said. "Nothing was put forward, so it was just some discussions that were had." "We sort of agreed to move on, because from our point of view we weren't going to give him away for nothing." Swann has also rejected assertions the Blues had sparked an attempt to lure Fremantle skipper Matthew Pavlich east in an attempt to fill the void left by Fevola. "He was never going anywhere as far as we knew, that one just came out of no where and had no truth what so ever," Swann said. Swann says the Blues will save a pick from the National Draft for the Pre-Season Draft, but expects St Kilda midfielder Luke Ball to be snapped up long before his club gets its turn. |

What the @#$%&! is wrong with the filth?! mcChins comes out and indicates he'd like Fev there and they dont ever get serious and put anything remotely resembling a genuine trade on the table. Are they @#$%&! stupid? ![]() Did they think we were going to give him away for Bryan or something? They are a deadset disgrace - not that I ever wanted Fev to go there but it just shows how amateur they are at the trade table. If the trade isn't completely one-sided and in their favour they wont do business. Scumbags! ![]() |

Scumbags! ![]() leigh matthews explicitly said on 3AW a week or 2 before trade week that hawthorn and collingwood will only do trades that are completely in their favour, and are therefore a nightmare to deal with. eddie may have wanted fev at the club, but who knows what their footy dept thought. even so, whatever interest they had they expressed in their usual way by wanting him for a steal. fev was priority #3 for them, of which they only landed #1 (jolly) and missed out on #2 (ball) after a couple of days worth of negotiation. at least eddie has now prepared his AGM response to the nuff-nuffs who ask "why didn't we get fev?" he'll just brush off those questions with the "we were into it all right but they wouldn't deal ...". you can imagine what will happen to the guy who then asks "but greg swann said ..." |

I think Mick has proven time and again that he completely over values his own players. That's his right but what pisses me off is the way they lead a player to believe they want him at the club then refuse to do anything to actually get him there. Thats why they gave up 14 for Jolly so quickly so that they could say to St K and carlton, we've got a 2nd rounder only |

Dont really care whether Swanny and co. wouldnt trade with the filth or whether the Pies offered us nothing.... All i care about is that Fev didnt find his was to the Pies. As bad as this last fortnight has been, seeing Fev in the black n white in 2010 would have been enough to make us all spew!!! |

Imagine if long serving players DID have free trade rights, if Fev wanted to go to the filth we may not have had any say in it... ![]() |

Did Fev have Eddy in a headlock when he asked him to arrange a transfer to Collingwood? Maybe Fevola's interview with Eddy was the first step in his rehabilitation with a media career at Chanel 9 in mind after footy. And the rehabilitation of Chanel 9's reputation. After the debacle Fevola has ratings potential for Nine's bogan audience segment. Nine and Fevola would be keen to see Fevola back on the screen. You can see Fevola saying to the Lions "Browny's on TV, can I have the same air time as him?" I'm happy we traded away those sorts of issues. |
