Now that the Fev saga is behind us I would hope that we turn our attention now to the coaching staff and what changes are going to be made in this area over the next couple of months. We are going to be in need of some serious gameplans next season especially going into our forward fifty now that Fev is gone. We also need to work hard on our defensive game. Learning to move the ball out from kickouts would of course be a bonus... ![]() I for one would like to see some new personnel come in to assist Ratts. Is anyone aware of any changes on the horizon in the coaching department? |

The last week will result in 2 or 3 changes at board level that will result in a change or two in the football department within the next 12 months |

Not sure of any changes planned J&K but would like to see some changes there as well. Was mentioned several weeks ago that Lappin and Monty were leaving but no word yet on if this is confirmed or who is replacing them. Unfortunately the club has been distracted by another matter to spend too much time on this area. |

Thanks DUC....I'd like to see a new forward line coach and someone to work with the boys on defensive pressure....what to do when you don't have the ball. |

Lyon spoke about some little changes he made further up that ground that made the forwards job of applying defensive pressure a lot easier. You could see it when you watched them. Teams playing them didnt have a release from their back fifty so they held on to it longer and they got gobbled up by players as lame as Milne. Id like to see ratts apply a bit more of that all over the ground pressure. The Crows did it well and so did the maggies. The only problem with it is it stifles scoring especially when you come up against a team doing the same thing. Then it becomes about strength and the teams mentioned above bar collingwood are stronger. Having said that the teams i mentioned havent won a flag yet so maybe some of the cats tactics are better borrowed. I am half keen to see what Lappin can do with the forward line now without fev. I am sure he will have more options and ideas that would be easier to implement. He is a clever thinker when it comes to footy. Don't let his slack jaw yokel exterior fool you. The year before last Monty was forward coach so it looks like they mix it up for experience in the box. Id also like to see a new face or two in the coaches box. I dont care whose mate they are. If they know the job well then give it to them. |

Evening Synbad, What if Kouta had some great ideas and passed all the tests and was a standout candidate against all those who applied? i am not saying i believe he is but hypothetically. Would you be in favour of him getting the job or because he was apart of that god awful, life ruining 95 premiership team would you put a line through his name. |

I'm a lapdog fan but I don't believe he needs to be subject to this sort of comment. I'm happy with Teagie, Monty and Lappo, it's their superiors that are the trouble and quite frankly Ratts gives them nothing. |

Cazzesman wrote: Why? What has Lappin done wrong in 09? Regards Cazzesman Firstly, you'd want a fully committed coach, not someone who would rather play bush footy than watch next weeks opposition, to understand and plan against their defensive structures. Secondly, our forward structures continue to be poor - we don't create space for forwards, isolate defenders, tend to have mutliple players leading to the same spot, struggle to pick defenses of well drilled teams such as Adelaide that flood back in numbers. Without Fev, next season may well be a very long one, unless we improve in these areas. IMO, both Teague and Lappin should have been booted out post Aisake debacle. |
