Id say that its maybe also a realistic call. Personnel - not a lot new you can do. Pagan unlikely to change basic game plan much. Can you suggest what other different things he might say this side of new draft picks? |

I think Pagan has just said enough is enough, we are never going to make the finals without talent, so to piss off the AFL, I'll play like Sydney and get a few draft picks to get some talent into the club. Could you imagine Pagan come end of year and the AFL pinned us for "tanking" ![]() |

We're two wins, one draw and seven losses after round 10. There are 12 rounds to go. To make the eight we'll have to win at least 10 of the next 12 matches. I think conceding that we'll be on the bottom end of the ladder this year is a realistic thing to do, don't you? |

Could you imagine Pagan come end of year and the AFL pinned us for "tanking" ![]() Pagan wants to play ugly and bring the game into disrepute, create headaches and pressure for the AFL with the media sooking about flooding tactics and then wait for the AFL to come out and say something like flower Andrew said about the Swans. Well Andrew, those penalties were not just a 2 year ban from the draft, it was 14-15 years penalty with the loss of players. The report was that we rorted the salary cap for years (bullshit-cough) so we might as well rort the draft system while we still have a chance. |

Dark Navy, Your quote was selective. Denis then went on to say: "We've got to focus on the areas that we have got control over. We've got to try and get our boys better." I think it was just probably a case of Denis' frustration getting in the way. GO BLUES |

Its only taken DP 2 1/2 years to figure out that his game plan wasn't working with the players he has so now he has decided to adopt the flood and more importantly slow the game down to limit the damage. Try stay close and have a run at them in the last. Nearly worked last week. Gees 800 grand a year for this |

KK -I am suggesting that DP has finally got it right. But why take 2 1/2 years to do it. It is the slowing the play down that is the most important part of it. |

I don't agree that slowing the play down helps us. We seem to @#$%&! things up worse when we dawdle up the ground with the ball. seems to give us more time and chances ti turn it over, only for the ball to rebound twice as fast as we took it up to HF. |

Yeah right...I think Pagan is saying that he can't do anything about where we are on the ladder except make sure the players prepare and play better......don't think that's conceding...just stating fact. What's he supposed to say...we sghouldn't be last? |

Its all to easy to make an accusation of tanking and not be accountable for the fact that we can talk it up all we like but we are not in a good position and unlikely to get better. we need to just face the facts on this. |

Denis is hopefully preparing us for a golden era.. which is not conceding. You wont get a Golden era with an average list |

Although i have no better ideas, what do we need Denis for... If all you need is picks, we might as well have kept Brittain... I mean, Grant Thomas is on his way to a flag. Terry Wallace wont be far behind. Why do we pay Denis so much if the picks are all you need? Because he "brought the best" out of Fev? I love Denis, and I'm also aware that we need picks (and we'll earn em anyways), but Im not sure if i like Denis falling back on the "all you need is talent" routine... Didn't people criticize Brittain for his flooding and 'minimizing damage' style? |

The only way Cornflakes will win a flag, is of a real coach is hiding in the back of the box handing out real directions. They SHOULD win the flag, but look seriously out of sorts for such a talented team. Could you imagine Brisbane of 2001/2/3/4 with the level of talent the Saints have...would they be staggering towards the finals? Nope. Quote: Didn't people criticize Brittain for his flooding and 'minimizing damage' style?
Part of it was Brittain didn't know how to implement the flood, and as a result we were even shitter when we tried to flood and go defensive. |

Matthews had 51 wins in his first three years at the Lions (average of 17 wins per year). Obviously they needed him. Getting your hands on a coach who can win 17 games a year in his first three years is sensational. GOOD ON THE LIONS!!! YAY!!!! ![]() |
